So I'm in desperate need of another humidor, but I don't have a whole lot of cash to play around with on the purchase.

Need something that holds 100+.

Came across this one.

I realize the auction is over on this one but there are several.

Opinions?

Does it seem like something that'll do the job well enough?

A humidor is a humidor... as long as it fits what you need... then it will work.
Honestly, if you have a nice one already in a place you display it... I'd go for 10 dollar tupperware, spend a few bucks on either beads or some Boveda packs... and the rest for sticks...

Isn't tupperware air-tight, though? I thought the cigars were supposed to be able to breathe slightly.

That being said, can't a humidor's seal be too shoddy and allow too much air in/out if it's poorly constructed?

I'd look for a thermoelectric wine fridge off of craigslist or somewhere. I have four humi's and a vinotemp. I'd buy another vino before I'd buy another humi. I've seen 28 ct. being sold used for around $100.

Looks like a good selection and it's only $50. Also it looks like it comes with a humidifier and a hygrometer!

Yeah, I second the tupperware thing. I've kept a medium sized rubbermaid container for over 5 years and never had a problem with my smokes. It's not completely airtight.

I agree. I got a 28 bottle Vino for a little over $100. If you are really looking for "bang for your buck" just head to the sporting goods store and get a big cooler.

I would be a little leary of the great deals on ebay. Like you said, you could end up with a bad seal. I have bought two cheap humis and they both have terrible seals.

Tupperware is a great solution. In order to circulate the air a little bit just make sure you open them up once every week or two. I assume that you dont have enough cigars for long term storage so grabbing a cigar to smoke once in awhile will be all the air change you need.

Tupperware . A cooler will also hold quite a bit if you want to spend a little more.

Dan
IMHO the only reason to pay a bit more for a cooler is if the place that you will be storing it goes through relatively drastic temperature changes in a small amount of time. In my house I shut the heat off in most rooms while I am at work and would assume on a cold winter day the temp falls into the low to mid 50s, when I get home my girlfriend has the heat cranked up to 70. The insulation value of the cooler just regulates the temperature on the inside a bit better so there are no 15-20 degree swings in a matter of an hour.

I agree with the cooler idea, if on a budget or not.

PS
I should answer your question at least sorry, The humidors in that price range are what they are they work fine but I believe for the short haul only. There are loys of imperfects too most all sites have them if you decide to go that route. Good Luck Bro!

the humi looks good but you seem to be on that slippery slope so you want get as much bang for your buck. If your really gonna start buying boxes than go with the cooler or find that cheap vinotemp. tupperware is great and as justin said if your continualy going into the container than that is pleanty of circulation, you could also go and get some empty cigar boxes from your B&M and stick that to help regulate the humidity.

Coolidor...you can get a 120qt Coleman Xtreme cooler for $52. Order it on the WalMart site, have the it drop shipped to your local WalMart (free shipping), and pick it up when it arrives. Then again, you could splurge one the 150qt version for $79.

I found a 150 count on CI for 65.00 and it was much nicer than that. Also I am a big fan of the Tupperdor. I have one that has been a godsend and keeps consistent humidity

Tupperware if you don't have any temp differences in the Summer etc.

Cooler if you do get high heat in your house during the Summer or any other drastic temp changes.
