I was a little late in getting started on this show (sat in the DVR until last night) but I'm glad that I did.
If I didn't know who the director was I'd let little things bug me but I have enough faith in Frank Darabont to know that if there's a niggling question ... he'll come back to it and it's "niggling" for a reason.
There were a few minutes of pure Darabont magic in the premier!!! (watching the second episode today so i can't speak to that one yet). When the sheriff tracked down that woman in the park to perform a mercy killing and the other guy couldn't shoot his wife ... the music ... the feel ... it was that magical signature he puts on all of his work. Reminded me 1000% of one of those transcendent moments from Shawshank.
As far as it being about zombies ... i'd say that it is and it isn't ... zombies are the theme but Darabont does "character driven" and that's it. Period. Shawshank, Green Mile, The Mist ... there are always things going on around the characters but the characters themselves are what drive the stories. And personally I love that!
Can't wait to watch the second episode this afternoon and the third one this weekend!

The first episode was great.
The second episode is starting to lose me. Is anyone else bothered by the fact they are trying to be P.C. about things. The speech about there is no more black, white, Asian, etc., after the biker beat up the black guy.
Then when they were chopping up the dead guy to cover themselves in the blood, the cop picked up hiss wallet, found his I.D., and then said when I find my family I am going to tell them about so and so.
Get off the P.C. crap and just put out a good show.
All in all it is following the graphic novel series pretty well, but I will tell you guys in the graphic novel, the wife and his partner was a one time thing, and not an affair.
If they continue to follow the graphic novel, it is going to be a great show.

It did get picked up for a 13 episode 2nd season but we will have to wait close to a year to see it.
It's gonna be awesome. Last week's was incredible!
The chick that held her sister till she turned and the took care of her was epic. Pretty bummed this is actually coming to an end.
LOL...yeah, and the dad and his son from the beginning.
The blonde chick holding her sister till she turned was pretty predictable but I totally didn't see her handling business like that!
Sidenote: Is it weird that every Sunday when my gf mentions Walking Dead is on that I start walking everywhere in the house like a Zombie until the episode is long over and we're going to bed?
If you don't know already, this comes from a comic. I just got done reading the first big compendium and it's incredible. Love the series, and you can spot the things that come from the comic, but it's already diverging pretty widely. It was nice to see the same characters and some of the touches that they brought over from the comic though. Apparently the comic is still going as well.

loved this season but it veered way off course from the comics. I hope with the new season they get back on track.
