Gents,

I was recently issued an H&K P2000Sk .40 cal for work.

Very nice little weapon for concealed carry. Unfortunately, I'm having a hell of time finding a suitable LEFT handed conceal carry holster. Especially since I'm in law enforcement I want something that is secure enough for weapon retention yet easy to get to if needed. I definetely like the inside the pants style holsters but I'm open to any other options as well.

Any one have any ideas?

Any QUALITY leather company. Milt Sparks, Pure Kustom, Alessi, CCholsters, Del Fatti (my favorite, but I don't think he's taking orders for a while), 5shot, Nossar, UBG, Monica Kuehn, TT gunleather, and others.

You should also look at: Crossbreed, Comp-tac, Tucker "The Answer", Raven Concealment, and Atomic Dog Holsters

I know a guy who makes custom holsters if you want to send me a pm I might be able to hook you up with the guy. He makes it out of a hard plastic material i know what it called but cant find it on the internet, so I dont wont to give you a misspelled name. I dont have a clue on how much one costs.

This is just my honest opinion/observation, but you're looking at 2 completely different systems, and it will depend ultimately on what you're looking to 'do with it.'

Do you want concealment, or do you want secure?

My carry weapon is a USPc40 LEM in a pancake-style level 1. It has a thumb-snap and is OWB. I feel pretty comfortable wearing it around work. I'm sure they taught you weapon retention and all that fun stuff - however, if you want to up the retention level, to say a level 3, it usually requires a rocking motion and a finger release. A good example is the Blackhawk Serpa L3. More secure, yes, but also requires more effort and more practice on your part to get it drawn. I personally wouldn't want to fumble with all that in a high-stress situation, but thats just me.

As far as concealment, Comp-Tac makes a good IWB holster for the P2000SK in the MTAC and CTAC. I don't think you're going to find a high level of retention in an IWB type holster. The advantage with those is the 'concealment' factor. I use a the CTAC for my P2000, but if I had my choice I would lean more towards the MTAC for comfort. While these are considered Level 0, I feel pretty secure positioning mine at the 3:30 position and they lock in with a good 'click.'

Regards,
Randy

if money is an issue look into Don Hume's iwb holster's great for the money. I personally would look into a galco summer comfort- pretty good milt sparks knockoff, and works well with my 1911

I wear a comptac minotaur IWB and love it. I carry a glock 23 around and it's plenty secure. They're not cheap holsters but I think worth it. I bet they can do a left handed version no problem.

Damn I guess those are for guys that are carrying $2000 plus custom .45s around. I have a problem buying a holster at almost 50% the cost of my gun. I thought $80 after shipping was getting up there with my comptac.

I don't think spending 285% more on a holster makes your life more valued to yourself than a $70-80 model. A $200 holster isn't going to save your life any more than a $70 holster will. They sure are nice looking holsters and if you have the cash to drop on them then by all means. I'd rather spend that extra $130 on other mags, ammo, or in this site's case cigars! I just don't see a lot of guys here dropping the cash for expensive leather like that.

I'll take my $400 glock any day over a $1200 kimber based on mag capacity, no safety to dick with, and pure rugged reliability. I was deciding between a kimber and a glock at the time of purchase. I went with the glock and I'm glad I did.

Aaaaaah, the Glock/Kimber thing....LOL

Buy what fits you and your situation best. I've got high-end and lower-end holsters. I've gotta say, that my Bullman Gunleather PDL (for my Kimber Compact Aluminum) is TOP-NOTCH and VERY COMFY. Problem is, it takes FOREVER (ie, a year for me) to get a Bullman, and, according to website, not taking orders right now....so, I'd recommend a Mitch Rosen (I think it's the VM2 that equates to a PDL).

I've got a Crossbreed Super Tuck Deluxe for my Glock and it's GREAT! I do prefer to carry my Kimber though, it's lighter and more comfy to carry...and it definitely outshoots my Glock...at least I shoot my Kimber better than my Glock, the Glock is still a great gun though.

I love kimbers but I don't love them enough to buy one. I love shooting friends 1911 based guns but I've become fond of my plastic piece. I'm not saying glocks are better than kimbers unless a gun really sucks I won't talk it down unlike some gun owners.

I had a guy come in the B&M the other day that was a "ballistics expert". By ballistics expert I think he meant "I only love .45 acp and I compare all other failed rounds to the one worldwide success". Its comparable to people saying rap sucks or metal sucks. :lookaroun

Anyhow back to holsters. If you can go for an OWB holster I like the sherpa stuff actually plan on getting one for when I wear a suit. I don't have to worry about covering it so much due to the jacket so a OWB is fine with me in that situation.
