smell of another cigar?

Don't know if this happens to other people as well so I figured I would throw it out there. A couple of weeks back I was enjoying a few cigars and drinks at a jazz bar. I was smoking w great well aged cigar but could not pay any attention to it as the aroma of my buddies cigar was giving off just the best aroma. It was so good that another guy just refused to light another till his was gone. There is a very specific floral aroma that does it to me every time. Anyone else ever have this happen to them?

yes, It will even happen if you are smoking the same cigar as another at a different time. Something about being outside the smoke circle. Two totally different experiences.

I don't know if it is a specific aroma but I am like Pavlov's dogs. If I am in the park, at a party or anywhere else and smell someone else smoking a cigar I start to salivate and jones to have one myself.

Can't say that I have experienced that before. I have experienced the opposite, where you don't like the smell of someone's cigar, and it makes you not want to smoke until it is gone.

...unless it's a "cheap" or poor cigar. They just smell horrible! Even my wife has gotten to the point that if we're at some bar, or outdoor event, she'll point out if someone has a dog rocket!


... and I'm a bit disturbed that Aaron enjoys the aroma of another guy's stick! But he probably gets that from Bob.

unfortunately, I all too often have the opposite experience. About to spark a great smoke and feel compelled to wait because of a dog rocket that is absolutely assaulting my olfactory sense.

Btw, speaking of, did you know a dog has between 100,000 to 1million times the olfactory sense a human has?

If I'm with guys who are smoking habanooos, I have trouble with my cigar unless it's really full flavored. If I'm starting with something milder and they have those great smelling sticks, I always have to fight off the envy bug.

There were no dog rockets involved. I was smoking an 03 898 and the distracting cigar was a Cuaba Salamones. Not that I think the specific cigars have a lot of influence in the experience

Never happened to me, but as of late i have been smoking solo. I do find that sometimes when walking in to a b&m and theyre smoking dog rockets i lose the urge to smoke. I think cc's def have the nicest 2nd hand aroma.

I had this happen to me not an hour ago. I was out walking on my lunch break with a Cuchillos Cubanos 46, and I could swear I started smelling a Monte #2, and indeed it was. Discovered one of the guys from my office is also a fan of such tasty smokes. Small world eh?

It was amazing aroma! I smoked a couple of my favorites that day, can't remember which one it was while JB was having that corona. But it was hard to concentrate on what I was having with the intoxicating aroma coming off that cc.

I mention to Justin "JBill, that cigar smells amazing" and he says "Yeah, I know Weak Sauce. Time to start smoking with the big boys" laughing a little bit. Every so often while puffing on it Justin would blow some of the smoke my way and let out a great laugh :"Bwaaahaaahaaa, cigars like these are only for real men. You might as well put down your dog rocket and just enjoy the aroma while you can."

No, but I have been so distracted by the smell of someone's dog turf of a cigar I can't enjoy my own.
