It may also be the last time or only time you see a DPG/PJ cigar with the legendary Pelo de Oro leaf in it. I read somewhere that the Don was not going to grow that leaf again.
Whoever wrote what you read was wrong... I was in Pepin's fields less then a week ago, and sourounded by Pelo de Oro. Here is a photo in case anyone has doubts.:ccool:

And I can back this up (i don't know if that pic is pelo or not)
But I know from very reliable sources, that Pepin is growing Pelo again, and will keep doing it!!

Continuing on with the Pelo de Oro theme, it will be interesting to compare the 2009 La Verite to the 2011 My Father LE. Apparently, PdO plays a significant role in the latter stick as well.

(On a slight tangent, I just read that the 2010 My Father LE has some PdO in it. Was that the case?)

That's great news - I know it's very expensive to produce & I could have sworn Pete said that they were gonna grow something else instead.

The MF LE10 does have some PDO in it, but not nearly as much as the LV09. 15%? No wonder it was so unique.

I'm gonna stick with the Churchill. Rather than a 25 box, I figure I will blow through a 10 box and keep the other(s) sealed for long term aging.
I thought about doing that but I am just not a fan of the Churchill size unless it is a special occasion. That way I know I can age the churchills and will be able to smoke the robusto every now and then.

Could someone who has tried the 2009 provide a flavor profile?

Thanks,

Vince
A fellow brother xddco has commented once,
To me, it was like a cojo 2009 on valium.... a mellower version without all the power and peppery spice.

Sounds great to me.
