Sorry to hear Jamie. Both of the ones I smoked have been stellar.
I am a young smoker still so take this as an opinon only. This is from the review thread.
I lit one up today (Sunday) at my local B&M and had a completely different experience. When I first lit the cigar it had a blast of pepper with a sweet hay taste. I thought it was going to be great but it stayed pretty one dimensional the whole way. It changed on me twice but only for the worse. The pepper faded and I was hit with a burnt wood taste. That stayed till a bitterness took over.
I have to agree the amount of smoke was amazing. There were several hints of sweetness that poked it's head in that I liked. For as it stands now I believe it needs some age to come into itself. I am planning on smoking another before I make my decision on them though. I hope I just got a dud.

Sorry, Gossamer, wasn't referring to you necessarily, as I don't know you yet. I just meant in general, there are people on here who don't like Viaje because of Andre, and they're going to rag on his product no matter how good everyone else says it is. That was my intention. Sorry for any offense to you, good sir.
The Illusione 88 is a great smoke, but I'm more partial to the 888 myself. Mo' Betta!
I personally can't wait for the Viaje Late Harvest! Maybe it will benefit from the "vine-ripened" tobaccos and perhaps a triple fermentation.

I'm not a Viaje hater - believe me, with some WLP, TNT, WMD, MOAB, DES, Oro Perfecto and Platino Reserva in the humidor, Andre has taken my money. Still, I have some kind of integrity, and don't like a manufacturer lying to me about a product.
