That's too bad. Like him or not, when healthy, one helluva player. His persona added to the game as well.
He'll be missed.
It is true...there is NO steroid that improves hand-eye coordination. With that being said, what steroids do help with is keeping your strengh and endurance up during the long season, thus being more productive. At the half way point where most guys are getting run down and maybe playing through injuries, steroid users are still feeling strong and healthy.

agreed. steroids dont help hit the ball out of the field. that still takes talent.
Agreed....And take away the "amazing hitter" because of steroids, and you just have an a-hole who cheated.Baseball didn't need this guy. He was an amazing hitter for sure. But he was complete a-hole who as a person contributed nothing to the game. Good riddance.
This from a lifetime Red Sox fan

Take a look at Bonds when he was a rookie, compared to post steroids.
Steroids add muscular mass, which powers the ball out of the park.
Yes, you need hand eye coordination, and skills developed by your hitting coach...Agreed. But teach that to a thin, weak batter, and he'll only get base hits....Add the steroids, and he'll be dinging cars in the parking lot.
cmon, bonds was/is a great hitter. as the hitters were juiced so were the pitchers. With all due respect, that's a pile of horse crap.

LOL...oh, I agree that steroids add strength that contribute to more home runs. But looking at Barry, he was still capable of hitting it out of the park pre-steroids. Take a guy like Barry who was capable of hitting home runs and then add roids and yes, you will get more home runs out of balls that shouldn't leave the park. With all due respect, that's a pile of horse crap.

Where I think we will have to agree to disagree is your final statement. I played college baseball with guys who were amazing hitters, jumped on the sauce and their power numbers only slightly improved. When it comes to hitting home runs you either have it or you dont. And if you have it, adding steroids will make you have it even more so.

Pitchers are equal piles of crap for steriod use. Anyone in any sport who cheats, is a freakin' cheater....Period.
No matter how much, no matter how it's done, cheating is cheating and it's a disgrace to their profession.
Can we agree to the obvious fact that he cheated? If so, then he's a piece of crap that deserves no place in the hall of fame, nor any place in the heart of a true baseball fan who has any respect for the game.LOL...oh, I agree that steroids add strength that contribute to more home runs. Slow down, Clint. You can't even remotely compare cheating in a game to cheating on your spouse. The definition of "cheating" in those examples are completely different. One is doing something against the rules in order to gain an advantage and the other is having a relationship with someone other than the person you're committed to. Apples and oranges. So it's okay to cheat, cause it's just a game.
Is it okay to cheat at work? On your spouse? Where do you draw the covenient line?
I know you weren't bro, and trust me, I dont take anything on the boards personally. I do see the point you're trying to make, please don't think I don't. In my own opinion our kids shouldn't be looking up to ANY of these guys, clean or not. And not just athletes but actors, musicians, or politicians. If we are debating whether these guys are setting good examples for our kids then I am in 100% agreement with you.Not at all attacking you personally...I am not drawing comparisons or implications to YOU, I am trying to point out that these professional athletes have tons of kids who admire them and idolize them. When they cheat, it's providing an example to kids that it's okay to do so. If Barry Bonds can cheat at baseball, why can't a kid cheat in school?
