IMO, Limited cigars should be just that, cigars that for some reason or another, couldn't be put into regular production but the tobacco/blend is so good you want to share it, or you produce it in a different size just as a change of pace. It seems like some companies are using the LE moniker just to sell cigars. Let me preface by saying, I'm not slamming anyone and I'm not putting anyone on a pedastal.
I look back to Pete's early days when the thermonuclear was floating around and no one really knew who Pete or Pepin was. P let his smokes do the talking. No bands, just a "here is what I have, smoke it and give me your thoughts.." I can still remember the first day when Matt from Drapers handed me a cojonu and just said try this, this is right down your alley. Well he was right. From there, it was really a lot of test piloting which seems to be continuously going on. Different people like different tastes, sizes, shapes so eventually, people will keep what they like and move what they don't.
I've never met Andre as there aren't any Viaje accounts in or near DC but through botl's here, I've met and smoked quite a few of his sticks. I do like some of his LE's and don't like others. The base lines are OK but again, since no one carries his sticks locally, I won't go way out of my way to find em. I don't know of his exact situation with tobacco availability but instead of making everything a LE type smoke, I'd love it if he could come up with a consistant "regular" line that I could pick up when I wanted. That being said, I'm as guilty as the next guy when it comes to the chase lol. I think its in our blood.
Pete, I've met on many occasions and from day 1, I could tell that he was a good guy. Completely down to earth and appreciative of his position in the industry. Everything is planned out now much more than it used to be it seems as he now knows years out, whats in the works.
To me, it looks like Pete starts with the tobacco and Andre starts with an idea. I could be totally wrong here but just how I see it. G1
