If it's a friend who smokes cigars regularly, I'll just ask what he likes and hand him that (if I have it).

If it's a friend who doesn't smoke that often, then I usually hand him something infused but good (Java, CI Legends Copper, Tabak Especial) or something mild: a creamy Connecticut like a CAO Black or RP Connecticut or something like that, or mild maduro like a CAO Gold Maduro or Chateau Real Maduro. Or maybe a Cameroon like a La Aurora or AF Hemingway.

Someone in between gets something medium-but-cheaper, like a Rocky Patel, CAO, Tat Red, maybe a DPG Black if they like something more adventerous.

I don't have many/any people that come to my house with any kind of decent cigar knowledge, so if they want a cigar, I always have some Don Tomas Classico's for them. I have never had a complaint from someone who has no idea about cigars with those sticks.
If anyone came over to smoke with me, they would get something much better than that...Trini's, Hoyo's, Bolivar, Liga Privada, Tat's ... sorry no Cohibas though, too expensive for my tastes haha. Just tell me what you prefer and we can make something happen.

My friends smoke whatever I'm smoking...after all, isn't that why they are your friends?

At the moment, because I'm a total noob and I got a box of them for free, Dutch Master's Palma. It's good for them, but I can't stand them anymore. I think it's fine for my age-group (noob) as well, as I know a couple of my peers can't handle some of the things I smoke.

That being said, I'm adding 10 G.A.R. Robustos, so if a hardcore smoker or a closer friend comes up, that'll be the standard.

I've found that I'm able to keep a steady supply of smokes from La Perla Habana for cheap thanks to cbid, and I find those pretty tasty and don't mind handing them out. Also Bahia's are a cheap bundle stick that are pretty good. This goes for people who aren't regular smokers.

Regular smokers get what I get, because sharing/trading is a big part of the fun for me!

Wouldn't you like to know?
I generally ask without opening the humi's for them to look into. If it is under $50 and I have more then one it is theirs. If they don't know I try to pick the cigar I think they would enjoy most regardless of price. I really want people to get the enjoyment out of a good smoke that I do so don't want to be feeding them stuff I wouldn't smoke.

If I am smoking with a friend who is a BOTL I will let them choose. If a noob I'll ask if they currently smoke cigarettes or have in the past and decide from there. To me, I want to introduce people to the hobby and have their smoking experience be memorable from a positive perspective.

to me it all depends on what friend it is, if its someone that I know will really enjoy a good smoke and is educated in the cigar world then they can basically have free rein over my humidors (to a certain extent) lol. But if its someone that i know is smoking just to say they did, and would leave half the cigar in the ashtray...they get a bundle stick or one on my cheap punch maduros from a box that was gifted to me. haha

I have friends who are cigar smokers, those who will for a special occasion and people who are not cigar smokers but will smoke one just to have a smoking cigar in their hand. For those who are cigars smokers, I tell em, there's the cabinet, whatever you want. For those who smoke on occasion, they usually ask me for something "mild", I keep a few smokes like Fuente 858's, Avo's, and the regular Cabaiguan and Padron lines always pleases everyone. Funny thing is, the real cigar smokers are always "shy" when it comes to taking something from the cab, aside from my good buddy who hunts down whatever's newest lol, so half the time I end up finding something for them. If I know someone is not going to actually enjoy a smoke, I won't give em one. I dont' have anything that I wouldn't smoke myself and if you're going to waste it, you're not getting one. G1

I always see this as an opportunity to convert a person to cigars. usually a smaller vitola to start, like a cohiba siglo I, rascc or party short

Whatever I have

Yea, same here 99% off the time I don't give a rip. However I do keed certian HTF stuff out of site if I only have 1 or 2 left that I really like. Most of the time They will bring the drinks and I supply the cigars though or they bring there own. If it's a just a ho-down with a bunch of guys who don't give a rip about what there smoking because there like a once a year cigar smoker I will give them a good budget stick and save the better stuff for the guys who really apprciate it.

Totally agree. Smaller vitola, not an ass kicker, good flavors... for someone I feel may have a genuine interest. For those who just want a cigar to say they had one, I have a bundle of Puros Indios Siempre de Oro that I picked up for $17/bundle. I don't feel bad as I would smoke one myself in the right setting (on the lawnmower in a snowstorm) :glassesgr but when they light a Marlboro off of it in five minutes and put it out I'm not out anything!

It definitely depends on the friend and their cigar experience. For newbies I pick out something inexpensive that I figure they will enjoy. For others my humidors are completely open.
