Just made my first trip over to check out Gloucester Street Cigar Monday afternoon and found it's closed down. I have been calling for a few days and have not been able to get through. I figured maybe they were having phone issues. When I got there I saw a big orange sticker on the window stating the business was Seized due to nonpayment of taxes.

I would give them the benefit of the doubt. They have been around for a long time. Hopefully it's something they can work out and they will be back on their feet again.

This is the right kind of attitude to have about this situation. Hope they get it worked out, soon. I can't imagine it's anything I would ever want to go through. Thoughts are with them.

I did not post this thread with any intention of bad mouthing or ruining any reputation. It is merely a statement of the facts in which I saw with my own eyes. I had been eagerly waiting to visit the shop for the past 2 years now. I was shocked to see this the other day.

I don't think it's fair to assume that a shop that has been in business for many years and have given great service to many cigar patrons over the years, myself included, should automatically be labeled as bad people.

My best wishes to Jose and the crew over at Gloucester Street Cigar Co.

Sorry to derail your thread Eddie but as a business owner who pays way too many taxes the idea of someone not paying pisses me off.

I think the owner or an employee is a member here, maybe they will chime in on this when they have a chance.

Hopefully they can get things worked out, as cigar smokers we don't need any more lounges closing their doors. And also, let's try to be civil here, if you feel the need to take a shot at them, take a deep breath and hit the back button and move on to another thread.
