So I use my BB calendar to record dates of when cigars went into the humi and as a means of keeping inventory. So I'm sitting having a smoke and decided to look at how long a smoke has been resting only to find that most of my entries are no longer there. WTF.....

After a quick google it appears that BB will purge older entries if the memory is low without indication or notice. If you are smarter than me you probably sync your BB with your PC. Free up space, then resync phone to "restore" the calendar entries. No biggie right? Well I haven't synced my phone since acquiring it and there's no way to recover the lost data. Thanks RIM.

If you record your inventory on your BB like me SYNC YOUR PHONE! I have 4GB device memory untouched but it doesn't matter.

Short of keeping a handwritten ledger, labelling or keeping a spreadsheet anyone have any other ways to keep inventory?

:argh: sorry for the quasi rant...

If you have an Ipod, or Android device you can get Mobile Stogie. Pro has multiple humidor options so you can keep many e-humi's with something like 9300 different cigars in the list. I like it, but when you get above a certain number of cigars, you find it hard to keep up with the inventory lists.

Shaun, this is one of the biggest issues with smartphones and sync services. You gotta make sure it's always getting backed up, lest you lose important information. I think it's a bit weird that it deletes old entries like that without so much as the option to disable it, but I understand why it's done. Smartphones have such limited storage and people try to use them as their personal computers for everything. IMO, they really need to be used in addition to a computer for use when you're on the go. Anything you want to keep permanently, I'd definitely be entering on your computer and making sure it's backed up.

As for suggestions.. there are some different apps at least on the android and iOS marketplace's that offer cigar inventory options. Alternatively, I'd look at a spreadsheet within Excel. In fact, you can even use the Google Docs option that has an online spreadsheet and is linked with your Gmail account. (Of course, be sure to back that up too!).

Admittedly so my blackberry has become my crackberry. I work in the IT field and obviously I should know better but with todays technology that's rolling out and with a device that has 4GB external memory AND 4GB internal memory....you'd think....well I'd think there would at least be a prompt of sorts to warn you to make space.

I wonder if there's a cigar app for bb......hmmmm....

How 'bout them Bruins brother?:stretchgr

Haha. hope that didn't sound attacky or anything about not having data backed up. I work in IT with a certain sync service and we see all too often people losing data and not having it backed up.

As for the B's... helllllll yeah! I'm loving it. Been waiting so long for this moment to happen. I just hope they can battle hard for a win against the canucks..

No no not at all just that technology manages and sets our expectations. Not to meet those expectations is what makes certain technology obsolete.

I did however just download a cigar app from the bb app store for $0.99. Basic but looks like it will do the job AND you can export the data to the SD card to backup! Now I just got to scroll through my mental rolodex to remember dates of aquisition.

Ps....gonna be a great series....sorry brother can't cheer but will appreciate:thumbsup:

Had first iphone within a week of its release and was set on never leaving it but eventually no data and restricted to wifi and no push email started to wear me down.....especially that damn autocorrect text garbage! Changed to BB with my wife on a family plan for free messaging and haven't looked back since...until the iphone4 was released LOL

On a torch which I use like an iphone (all touch no keypad)

the torch is a nice looking phone. wifey wants it. Im patiently waiting for the next iphone release.

If there is one thing the iphone lacks where the BB shines is the native calendar.
