I saw a interesting show about how aggressive education has become and how stessed kids are getting by the pressure of the parents in respect to pushing them so hard. I realized that not every kid can go to Harvard. And to beat a child to learn learn learn and then find out that they missed their childhood because of it, well that doesn't sit well with me at all.
Hendy, First off let me express my empathy. As a father of a young boy, I can kind of understand your position, and I am sorry you are going through this.
In response to your sentiment expressed in this quote (and I am not sure this will help at all) but my wife, sister, and mother are/were all educators at the high school level. All three of them agree that, while the IB program has it's merits, it is also receiving loads of criticism from progressive educators because it robs children of their youth-experiences.
At this day-and-age, a Bachelors degree is so easily attainable, it is the Masters Degree that is beginning to take on more importance... and by the time your young ladies are ready for that, they'll only need some good letters of rec from professors and to hit some GRE scores.
At the same time, there are many successful people who attained their PhDs after having dropped out of High School and then taken the GED. So ultimately, just remind your daughters that there are many parallel paths they can opt to take; with the good heads you've placed on their shoulders, I am sure they will turn out just fine.
