So on Friday, we're having a Rocky Patel event/ wine tasting. The wine rep is extremely, extremely knowledgeable about wines (he was just in Miami teaching seminars on Spanish wines), but not so much about cigars. He was wondering if cheeses would good to add to the mix.

We have already paired the featured wines with the featured RP cigars. Would cheeses clash? If not, what kind of cheeses?

I'm very ignorant in this arena, and am hoping for some good advice from the collective. Let me know what you think.

If he knows his wines let him choose the cheese!

I like st agur, gruyere and some others I dont remember the taste of!
As you might have seen on the pics of my herfs, we cc lovers over here really enjoy the mix. If it is possible try some vintage port with the cheese and cigar.

Perhaps a port wine cheese. I have always enjoyed the three, but not sure I have ever had them together in a pairing. I love a big red, but find the tannins don't always pair so well with cigars. Curious to hear what you pair. Port is always a good option, and if you can find a white port, I could see where that would go reallly well with the other two.

to me seems like might be too much for the novice pallet to take in. I like wine with cheese but add a cigar think something may be lost or it could be the greatest thing ever never know until you try.

I'm a huge fan of smoked cheeses with wine/cigars personally. Love me some smoked cheddar or gouda with a bold red and a good stick.

Edit: Do we need a ticket or somesuch and/or is the website correct that the event is 11pm to 3am? I'm down off Slaughter, and that's a pretty good trek to get home that late, else I'd be interested.

Found this article on a site I visit from time to time for Cigar History.
