Large gauge cigars

What are your thoughts? Some love them some hate them personally I enjoy them from time to time.

Not a fan personally of the 54+ RG's, but know many who prefer them. Some cigars I like in a 50-52 RG, but for the most part prefer lancero/lonsdale/corona sized cigars.

Same, more or less. I just don't have time to devote to some of those monsters. I noticed a big trend last year and the beginning of this year that has died out a bit IMO

If you mean the big RG trend, it hasn't died out. Many new big cigars coming out and lines have been extended to add the bigger sizes.

I looked at the CI catalog the around May and counted the amount of pages that didn't have a 55+ ring gauge cigar on them. I think it was around 10, which means 85% of the catalog had a page with a 55+ ring gauge cigar on them.

If anything I think the large rg trend is gaining strength....unfortunately.

I'm a fan of smaller ring gauge.

a higher wrapper vs. filler ratio = more flavor

The SI Padron is an example of a cigar that tastes great, even with the large RG....

I do like some cigars in a 54, but usually prefer smaller rg. I won't smoke a 60 rg again.

This, only I'll generally go for 52 or smaller. Lately I've been loving lanceros

Count me among the smaller RG supporters. I won't turn down a good 52+ cigar, however!

NUB 460 comes to mind as one of the larger ones that I actually enjoy. Then again that's what it is marketed for.

Same here but if I had to suggest a cigar that I do enjoy in a larger ring size it would be the Tat Gran Cojonu.

While it takes a bit longer to consume, the recent spate of large RG sticks have been very tasty. Therefore, count me as one who likes them.

42 RG to 54 RG is my comfort zone depending on the cigar.

I go through phases. I haven't smoked a cigar under 56 RG in the past month or two.

hi! the cigars like the nub, etc are the in thing because you get the larger gauge, but it won't take you as long if the length was longer. i like the larger gauges myself and maduros at that..yum
