I've lost so much respect for him these last few years. He has been instrumental in creating the most stringent non-smoking laws anywhere in the US, yet he makes no secret of his double standards when it comes to smoking cigars.:sadpace:

Sorry mealstrom, but your information is way off base. The last few tobacco tax proposals in CA have been written or sponsored by Rob Reiner. Thankfully the voters saw through the last one (Prop 86) and voted it down.

Also, many of the anti-smoking restrictions put in place over the past 10 years have been done at the city level and have nothing to do with the Governors office. In fact, one of the first things Arnold did when he was elected was to build a "smoking tent" outside his Sacramento offices so he could enjoy his cigars - yet still follow the current law of no smoking in public buildings.

Don't know that it matters Ray. He accepted the cigar into his posession, probably enough. Regardless, still another example of different rules for different folks.

Technically I believe that the embargo states that you can not purchase things, so if he didnt purchase it, it is actually 100% okay for him to smoke, but thats just my understanding of it. But really though, good for him!

Consuming cuban products isn't legal either, unfortunately.

I'm not sure what the real rule is, but to truth of the matter is that the chances of you getting in trouble for purchasing and smoking a cuban cigar in another country is very very very small. Therefore I could care less about the technical details of the law.

Public Relations? If anything it should shed light on how stupid the law is and that a high profile guy like that won't go unnoticed breaking it.
