Enjoying a Sweet Water Dank Tank "Ghoulash" and a Tatuaje Anarchy. The "Ghoulash" is 8.5 abv and is a stew of 2-row, black wheat, munich malt and a 14-hop variety....this beer has alot going on but it is damn good, get some if you can still find it!

Spaten Oktoberfest...

Heard it through the grapevine Costco had cases for $22.99.....and I'd never had it. Bought a case....drank a few...

Went back and bought another case. The fact you can buy by the case is appealing, but the less than $1/beer price tag makes it a no-brainer.

First of my backwoods bastard.....wow:bottle:
1st i'd heard of this one....went to check it out, and saw it was a Scotch ale.

Only Scotch ale i'd had before was Skull Splitter outta the UK. One of the only beers off the top of my head I can recall pouring out. Wow was right! Rates A- on BeerAdvocate, but that's one I just didn't get. I'm sure others out there aren't as intense, but lets just say i'm skeptical of this style atm.

It'd be nice to have the option of case purchases for certain things. If you move to PA you have to hunt down a "bottle shop" which is a restaurant with a to go beer sales license. Other than that you have to buy cases all day long......

If you are looking to try a damn good "Heavy Scotch Ale" see if you can find "Pale Horse" Winter Seasonal....very, very tasty!

I like some scotch ales and hate others. But, Backwoods Bastard has me intrigued since it's aged in bourbon barrels. Should be pretty darn good :dunno:

I had my firstr one last night. I have to say what I found amazing is that at 10.2abv there was no alcohol taste what-so-ever. Also, the beer was very thick and only had the faintist wisper of bourbon barrel taste. Some beers go over the top with the wood aged flavor.

This one got it right on a couple levels. I'm going back to my beer store to buy more!

Another good scotch or wee heavy is Traquair House Ale. I find it to be quite delicious. Some breweries mistake heavy full body for cloyingly sweet. There is a difference and many don't understand it.

Last night drank a bottle of Ommegang Hennepin that I won at the last homebrew competition.

Schlafly puts out a Scotch Ale. Very good, but I have no experience with the style, really, for a basis of comparison.

I discovered a local store had a LOT of the Boulevard Smoke Stack Series of the Saisson-Britt. I may have to stock up... I've heard about people in Kansas City not being able to find it!!

Finally getting around to a bottle! Just got back from Chicago and thankfully all my beer in the suitcases made it back, but I lost 2 bottles in the mailed grouping. Its like USPS workers stood on my boxes and then threw them out of the plane1 I've never had such beat up boxes....guess Im lucky I only lost 2 bottles. RIP ohyeah founders breakfast stout and bottle of 3 floyds zombie dust you will be missed!

If you think it's good in the bottle you should try it on tap at the brewery.
