Trappistes Rochefort 10...

Man, would this be a fine pairing with a RASS with the fruity notes. I had the 8 last weekend, and found it almost too sweet.....the 10 though, the alcohol balances out that sweetness nicely, so it's not overwhelming. Wouldn't buy the 8 again, but the 10? Absolutely.

Laurelwood Gearhead IPA...

I think I've grown spoiled from all the Lagunitas Sucks....as this Gearhead is good, but not great.

Saw 3 more 6'ers of Sucks on sale at the store today....even though I had a couple left...I couldn't resist buying at least one...so I did. Don't know if that's good or bad. Soon enough, I'll have to find my replacement (sigh)...

It couldn't possibly be that hard to find a great IPA that's produced around the Seattle or Portland area :dunno: I figured you'd have a great selection of west coast IPA's.

Yeah, don't feel sorry for me...that was my attempt at being dramatic, which clearly was a fail. I won't have any problems....plenty of nice IPAs around here to fill the void of the Sucks Holiday Ale....

And soon enough, the 2nd batch of Sucks will on the shelves anyway :santa2:

That pretty much sums up all of Laurelwood's beers for me...
Tonight I had a couple Seven Brides Oatmeal Ellies whilst having dinner at their taproom with my wife and daughter. Good complement to my mac n' cheese, but not a great beer.
Gonna have an Oak Aged Yeti here in a minute.

(Have now gone through over a case of the Lagunitas Sucks)

Does it pour purple? I've used Purvian Purple Maize in a beer once. It certainly adds color but the beer was a belgian brown ale so the corn just gave it a tint of purple instead of "wow thats purple".
It is purplish...the problem is the beer itdself is just dark...like just a couple shades less than a stout so pretty hard to see it. Great beer though.
