I have a couple cobs as well as a meer that I smoke a lot. So if you want to get something that requires no resting pick up a half decent low priced meer, they are kind of fragile though.

Im a heathen and dont rest my pipes much more than a day or two. Cobs I rest until its cooled off and I feel like hitting up another bowl. I have only been at this for 6 months actively. I have pipes I bought back in 2009 but never really used. Now I smoke my pipes way more than cigars.

HOLY CRAP!

Pics to follow but Grrrrr totally destroyed me. I got home at 10:30 tonight exhausted and done. Saw the box, opened it, and it saw the smack-down.

Words can't describe how generous you were, brother. Thank you so much and I can't wait to try them out this holiday weekend.

Okay - here is photographic evidence that Grrrr is insane. Holy Jeebus, what a package. And just in time for the holiday weekend. Thank you so much, brother.

Here's a great story - my wife is "tolerant' of my cigars but when I opened the box last night she was looking over my shoulder and quipped that she had smoked a pipe a few times in college. First, I confirmed that she was talking about tobacco pipes (she was)...

I think it would be pretty cool to see her take a draw on the pipes, too.

Here's the package contents. And that Big Ben? It has such a great balance in my hand and is really comfortable to hold. Just gorgeous.

And a close up of the Big Ben Cambridge 613:

Hey brother, enjoy. Thanx for being patient with me.

I picked him up a long time ago. He fulfilled his end of the deal in a timely manner. I wasn't so timely. Work had other plans for me then I went on vacation. I added the big ben as a thank you.

You really didn't need to go to that length but I really appreciated getting that!

Besides, it wasn't like you disappeared - we were in communication and I knew it was going to take a while. Like I said - it took 45 years before I got interested in a pipe so a few extra weeks is nothing.

Thanks again - and those tobaccos smell heavenly!

I get that and that's just one more reason why the brothers here make BOTL such a unique and welcoming home.

I've read that, for the first 10-12 bowl in that Cambridge that I should only pack it 1/4 full and then slowly increase the amount I use to properly season it. I'll force myself to be patient.

Do I need to do something similar with the cob pipe?

Na Rob just pack it and smoke it.

Honestly I don't even break in the Big Bens. I pack them and smoke them. The bowls are coated. Mine have done fine without breaking them in.

I would just smoke the aros out of your cob till you get an idea what you like. The briar will ghost and you may want to dedicate the big ben to either an English or va blend.
