I echo a number of comments so far. My rules are:
1) Buy within your means. There will always be another cigar to spend money on. There will always be another sale. There will always be something to buy.
2) try a bunch of different cigars to see what you like. 5ers are great for this. You can try and see if you like it. If so, consider a box. If you don't, move them out either by selling them, gifting them or stick'em in the back of your humi and try them later on.
3) Buy by the box when you can on cigars that you love.
4) Have patience. Don't get caught up in buying everything that you can. Part of the fun is being selective. Make sure that financially you are taking care of the necessary things in life before spending money on what is unneccessary. Slow and steady is the way to go. No need to try to keep up with the Jones.
