So why a 1911? Just curious why you're dead set on one of them. When I return to the states I'll be buying another glock(probably, G20, 10mm which can switch between 10 and .45) while I still have military ID(sweet discount), and then working on a Walther PPS. The Walther is being purchased with the sole intent of carry. It's rail thin single stack and can be had in .40. Now if you're just hell bent on a .45 then I can't really think of any alternatives that are as thin as a 1911. Well on closer look at the Para it's the EMP and they won't come in .45 if my memory serves me(which it normally doesn't) I would go with the Para though between the two. Is the EMP out in .40 yet? I know when they released it was planned but haven't checked back into them since. Like I said I've been eying the PPS and it has the same capacity, is just as thin, and is half the price.

I'm by no means a gun expert btw, and am not trying to sway your choices one bit. I'm a to each their own type of guy. I just hear so much about how additional gunsmithing needs to be done on 1911s to make them work as reliable as the most reliable polymers.

There was a time when this was true but in my opinion, those days are long gone. I think the most reliable 1911s are every bit as trustworthy as the most reliable combat Tupperware. My carry weapon of choice is my Kimber Classic Stainless, now about 8 years old and it's never been to a gunsmith. I did install an extended slide release for ergonomics but the pistol has performed flawlessly since break-in.

Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against poly guns in general. I own and enjoy an H&K USP 45 Compact and a Kahr PM9. The problem I have with Glocks, is not a single one of 'em fit my hand well. Believe me, I've tried 'em...and I've tried 'em repeatedly. My 1911 fits me like nothing else, it points where I do, and it has the added benefit of lookin' damn good while it does so. That last part was just for me. :glassesgr

I hear you. I've only heard the gunsmithing stuff, and always questioned its validity because it was probably coming from the mouth of a plastic gun lover.

I have a glock 23 and love the thing. I however would not suggest "combat tupperware", as those with traditional handguns call them, if it weren't for their price point. For me with my military ID I paid $409 for my G23 with three 13 round mags. Now if in the same store for me to buy a Kimber it would have been double that easy. I was actually looking at the Tactical Pro (grey finish with dark wood grips) and they're around $1k.

About a Glock and their fit, a company recently released a 1911 angle frame for them. It's a simple swap and you get the 1911 grip angle on a glock, afterall that's the complaint I hear from most people is about the grip angle.

Sorry for the thread jack.

GO PARA! haha

I just love to shoot em' (1911).They feel right in my hand and with a single stack it feels comfotable on the hip. I forgot to mention that its also an American tradition.
