I smoked the last "new" Perla I had or I would have posted a side by side with the original ones Argus hit me with. Haven't smoked it yet, but the aroma is better lol
Wow....that is enough information to make some serious waves for those who depend on CBID to be a credible source for cigars. I love Genesis Cigars as well and thought it was just my taste buds going through "the change" and lately the ones that I got off CBID auctions just don't have that taste as they once did...there are others as well so this really is news. So.....just to get the facts right....they are putting name brand cigar labels on a totally different brand????? Even if that's the jist of it I don't see how they can get away with that and not be investigated for fraud esp. with irrefutable facts. For years, I used to buy 90% of my cigars from Cbid, until Trish banned my account for telling others the truth about how they buy the rights to highly rated out of production labels, slap them on dog rockets and pass them off as the original. Since I was forced to leave, I'm actually doing just as good at other places, plus I'm now smoking better cigars. The only reason I'd ever go back, is when I finally run out of my current supply of Genesis Projects. But with that said, a buddy of mine just posted over there that the Genesis Projects he just received tasted of "barn yard" and "musty", and weren't anywhere near as good as the previous ones. I sure hope they didn't decide to save a few pennies by switching to cheaper tobacco now that this line is a big hit, but knowing them, I wouldn't put it past them.
Good find. Haven't seen that in a whilehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Sa_jEdBZ_PA"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Sa_jEdBZ_PA
He explains this around the 15 minute mark of the video!
Ok, good. Unless I'm really missing something obvious, Ive been buying boxes, on average, 40-50% cheaper than adevertised on CI. My latest purchase was for a box of 21 Xikar HC Habano 6x60's. MSRP, which is a smoke & mirror figure is $160.00. CI price $112.00. i won the box for $55.00. To me that seems like a deal. Unless, or course, Im missing something. Most of my purchases are well below other prices i see on the net. Maybe Im looking in the wrong places, but Ive been happy with Cbid so far. I am going to take some advice of other BOTL and check out these other sites Ive never heard of.From what I can tell, you are safe with name brand, current production cigars. Just stay away from discontinued cigars that where once expensive, highly rated, and now selling cheap at CI.For years, I used to buy 90% of my cigars from Cbid, until Trish banned my account for telling others the truth about how they buy the rights to highly rated out of production labels, slap them on dog rockets and pass them off as the original. The one that really got me upset, was the La Perla Morado. This was a favorite of mine, but sadly, it was discontinued. I bought up the last remaining boxes from Holts. All of a sudden it shows up at CI for cheap. I asked on the boards if this was still the real deal, and if so, how could they be retailing them for $3? Steve (one of the moderators) assured me that they where indeed the same cigar, but that because they simplified the packaging, they where able to cut the cost. Total lies! The new ones are dog rockets. Not only do they not use the same tobacco, but the sizes are different, and the labels are now fuzzy and out of focus. I found a few blogs that stated that CI bought the rights to the whole La Perla line, and are having the cigars made to their cheap specs. They've done this with other lines and labels as well.
As I said before, if you ignore their "used car salesmen" descriptions, and concentrate on current production name brands, you should be fine.
That is a deal if that is a smoke you like. there are definitely deals to be had there. Check out the other sites, Have patience and you will find deals on them all. All argus is saying is know what you are getting into and beware flashy marketing.Ok, good. Just so we're clear here. They don't do this with current production name brand cigars. What they do is buy the rights to discontinued labels, have them made to their specs, and then pass them off as the original. Here's an example of how blatant they are. This is their description for the Torano Noventa, which is now a CI owned label.Wow....that is enough information to make some serious waves for those who depend on CBID to be a credible source for cigars. I love Genesis Cigars as well and thought it was just my taste buds going through "the change" and lately the ones that I got off CBID auctions just don't have that taste as they once did...there are others as well so this really is news. Considering this "once in a lifetime" deal has been available on their web site for over 2 years, Charlie must have had 100,000 boxes sitting in his warehouse that he had forgotten about. Of course we all know that isn't the fact. I smoke a lot of Torano cigars and fell for CI's lies by buying a box of Noventas on Freefall, when they where first available. One of the worst cigars I can remember, and no way is it a Torano product. Now if I only had concrete facts, and not just speculation, that would be another story.I’m so excited I can barely type. This here’s a one-in-a-lifetime kinda deal. The kind you dream of, the kind that most definitely won’t last long - Torano Noventa boxes, nearly 80% off. Yes, 80 PERCENT.
Here’s the short version of the events that transpired....
The ultra-premium Torano Noventa has been off the market for a while now. It was always intended as a one-time release, and all the cigars were supposedly sold out. But a little while back, Charlie Torano let slip that he still had some boxes remaining. I played it cool, acted indifferent, then made a half-serious low-ball offer on the whole lot. Somehow, he accepted. And now I’m passing along the savings....well over $200 off per box.
Learn something new everyday, great info and definitely good to know !!!!!!https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Sa_jEdBZ_PA"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Sa_jEdBZ_PA

Yes, I heard that too. I won some HCs off of Thompson a few years back, and they where OK smokes. Last spring Joel sent me one that he had won from Cbid, and it was utter crap. May have been a bad one, or maybe just one of CI's new production.I don't know if what you're buying is still the original stock, but Brian from cigar obsession said that they own that label nowOk, good.
