Mmmm AJF. Any idea why his stuff is exclusive to them? Is he employed/under contract with them?

Not all of his stuff is CI exclusive. I like to think of him as a mercenary. MoW, Diesel and Ave Maria seem to be the ones CI owns. He's blended for Emilio, Padilla, Rockey Patel, La Herencia and has his own stuff that isn't (San Latano, Pinolero).

The thing I dont get is this........Ive been getting boxes and 5 packs on Cbid for pretty much half off the CI website price. How is this beneficial to them, and why do they do it? I often wonder if these less expensive cigars are damaged, or otherwise lesser in quality. Ive been using Cbid since December 2013, and just the past month, Ive had nothing but problems with poorly made cigars, wrong items shipped, and now, beetles. Im done with Cbid, its taking up too much of my time by printing UPS labels, repackaging items, relabeling, and driving to a UPS store to ship back. My closest UPS store is about 15 miles away, and Cbid wont pay for UPS pick up.

Prior to these mishaps, Ive had nothing but positive experiences with Cbid, but its been downhill since. Apparently, after speaking with a customer service rep yesterday, there are a lot of "issues" going on with the warehouse, whatever that means. Im fortunate enough to live close enough to drive to CI, Holts, and countless B&M's, so ill be purchasing in store only from now on, where I can inspect my cigars. I learned alot from this thread, appreciate all the info. Thanks

Ha, ha, I was a major contributor on their forum for 5 years. They've been having "issues" with the warehouse for the past 3. They're either grossly mismanaged or they just don't care. Probably some of both. When folks would complain on their forum they would sometimes get a little "uppity", and talk down to the complainer, or just make excuses. Most companies are concerned about their customer's concerns, and do everything they can to improve themselves. CI/Cbid tend to ignore the issues, or band the customer complaining. Better to band a customer from purchasing, rather then fix the problems. What legitimate company does that?

This explains a lot! Thanks to all for this thread. Time to become an educated consumer. We spend too much on cigars to deal with this kind of marketing.

I have to say, because of this thread, I had to pull out a La Perla Habana Maduro Ive had sitting in the humi for some time. So, this is a brand apparently owned by CI now. I must say, I am thoroughly enjoying the flavors of this maduro. I guess the fact that CI owns a label doesnt necessarily mean its a bad or good thing. Unless of course there is a noticeable difference in the blend that youre used to, like Im hearing with the Genesis. Im gonna make it real simple for myself, if it tastes good to me, ill smoke it. Isnt that really what its all about? Thumbs up for the La Perla Habana Maduro.

Or your box could be one of the older ones before CI took over the brand & ruined it. I used to love the La Perla Habana Morado's & there's no question that the ones being produced by CI now are absolute crap compared to the OR ones. The bottom line is, smoke what you like & just be leery of deals that seem too good to be true, because they more than likely are.

You have to be true to your maximum bid amount. My max bid is always less than any other retailer, so my purchases are always great deals. I win only about 10% of my bids and that's the way it should be if u want to save money.

With regard to the HC series, I noticed all the lines are still produced by HC with the exception of the maduro. Totally different band style than the rest on the CI website. Oh, and not to mention the $50.00 dollar price diference (cheaper) bewteen the maduro and the other blends that HC still makes, according to their website. Im starting to see the light now. Im glad this thread was raised, definitely learned a whole bunch. Im getting ready to place an order with corona cigar company. Anyone ever dealt with them before? I never have, but they seem like a pretty good company.
