Cigar Smoke = Bug Spray?

I have found that there are far less bugs on the front porch while I'm smoking.

Wish it worked for Mosquitos... those bastards are crazy this year on Long Island

Works on skeeters for me. Not sure if this is relevant, but beekeepers use smoke to keep their hives calm. Might be a general bug/smoke thing.

I dont know if it works, but Ive used that "honey, it's just to keep the bugs away" excuse with my wife many a time. She knows better.

Interestingly enough, smoking cigars seem to keep the Mosquitos off me even on the humid days/nights in Miami, FL. I am not sure what causes this phenomena, but I have heard at my local cigar shop that supposedly if you keep cigars after smoking group together in a bag for a long period of time it can act as a natural pesticide. I am not sure how true this is but maybe it has something to do with it.

Japanese bugs must be immune ... I literally have about 100 bites right now, from smoking with my buddy the last 3 nights. No joke, I have to take Benedryl to keep from going insane.

But I HAVE noticed that butterflies seem to like smoke.

San Diegan bugs seem to be as up-ity as the people around here when it comes to cigar smoke. Rarely do I get approached while smoking, regardless.
