I do the same. Usually start with a 10-15 minute bike ride to warm up. Then it's weights (legs/arms on different days), followed by another 30-45 minutes on the bike.

I'm starting to get back into some interval training as well. Sprints, shuttle runs, etc. Need to work on the fast twitch muscles for hockey. Going to Finland for a tournament this Summer and really want to be in much better shape. International sized rinks and what are likely to be faster and better players than I'm used to playing with/against.

Running 3x a week for the last week and a half. So sore from the waist down (I'm very, very out of shape.) The perimeter of my campus is almost exactly a mile (like 1.1 miles) so I've been working on decreasing the time it takes me to run that, before I start increasing the distance I run. And I chase each run with sit ups and push ups. It's a dorm friendly work out.

And sparring on Friday nights...

By which I mean on Friday at 11, there're fights in my dorm. sparring gloves, 5 minutes each, tap-outs or knockouts only. I love this building.

Didn't make it to the gym last night so my wife and I walked around the neighborhood. A little chilly out but used it as a good opportunity to burn one. Tried a victor sinclair legacy, although it was a cheapy it was actually a good smoke. Tonight I will be doing leg/shoulder workout at the gym and probably stationary bike.

Suggestion from a runner- Make sure you get outfitted with proper running shoes- if you have not already- since you are running that often. I suffered severe shin splints when I first started running from not listening to advice and just went out running with any old sneaker. It is critical if you run. Hope that helps.

What are shin splints? Because I have just been wearing sneakers, and my calfs/shins are killing me.
That's a normal pain to have when you start up running. Shin splints are actual tiny cracks and fractures all in your shin that usually come from poor footwear or running on different surfaces than you're used to. It's possible you could have them now, but more than likely you're just sore from picking up a new exercise routine.

I would stop running right away and go to a running store to get outfitted for running shoes. Cardio is key to fitness, but I would stop running and find an alternative such as the elliptical machine, stationary bike, or road bike, etc.

It took me months to treat the injuries that I sustained from not wearing proper running shoes and running too far too fast. They say do not increase your distance by more than 10% a week- even though running feels so good at first you don't want to stop...Fitness is a life-long process and journey so take small steps- literally. Good for you for getting fit bro!

Of late I have been really busy but on the weekends I get in a full body weight workout and Sundays(when the Pat's are not playing) I walk on the treadmill while wearing my 40 pound weight vest. I walk for an hour at 3 mph w/a incline of 3.

I actually just ran this morning, and it hurt more than any other post workout burn. About a quarter mile in it just amped up. So I walked the last mile and a quarter and I'll get running shoes tomorrow... This hurts a lot actually.

Thanks for the save, guys.

And for what its worth, ive been running in worn out 17 dollar sneakers across pacement, cobblestones, brick paths and roads... So.. Yeah.. Running shoes may be a good idea.
