I gave up cigarettes many years ago but bought a cheap gas station stick one day and have never looked back. Did some research on the subject about 8 years ago and ended up here where I have learned a ton.

A buddy gave me a cigar to smoke with him a long time ago and I was hooked.

I liked the analogy to wine, whiskey etc. started to read up on cigars never having smoked anything in over 40 years and picked up a lower end CC as my first stick. Been smoking three years now and intend to continue for as long as I am able.

In college my wife bought my two La Diva's in the glass tubes ( they were the old cognac soaked cigars) and I quickly bought a box of Thomas Hinds Nicaraguans... Back in the late 90's...

I had been interested in cigars due to seeing my father smoke when I was younger. My friends all started smoking cigs and I thought I would kick it up a notch and be classy and smoke a cigar. I haven't looked back since.

You know I guess there really wasn't any reason for me starting...just wanted to do it and then once I did I just dug it. Very glad I did tho. Have made friends and memories I wouldn't have probably made otherwise

My pops introduced me to it.

When I was younger he would let me pick out his smokes for him, once I got old enough it was something in started to enjoy as a great way to unwind, free my mind, and get lost in the wonderful flavors of a cigar.

My uncle used to put on a very large fireworks display every 4th of July at the beach where we vacationed.
It would usually take at least 6 of us to light off all the different mortar shells and timing was important. Instead of trying to fiddle around with a lighter in the wind, he would just pass out cigars to us.
I was probably 14 at the time.

Wife's cousin got me into it. Started by buying some whenever we went golfing.

1) box of swisher perfectos at high school graduation. hey, we were 15 and 16, it was cool!

2) gifted a bolivar robo from a old girlfriend's mom; it was wasted on me, but glorious. maybe 18 at the time.

3) picked upa hemingway signature on my own from a local, first cigar that i really "GOT"".

Back in 1976, my father gave me one to celebrate the Bicentennial.

Right after my friend and I both turned 18. Had been waiting for it! My grandfather smoked cigars so I had always wanted to try them.

Swiped one of my dad's cigars when I was 15, I think it was a Muriel or maybe Garcia y Vega. Whatever it ws it was in a cool glass tube. Nearly choked to death and didn't smoke another until a co worker handed me a PLPC at a wedding. The rest is history.
