I fell for the 78 dollar player at WalMart... gotta say, so far so good...
I almost did that, but then I remembered when I bought my two cheapest DVD players and how they both died in just over a year. I decided at that point to always buy the next cheapest P.O.S., you know, the ones near the bottom of the barrel, but not at the absolute bottom.

So far it's been a good plan, haven't had much problem with any electronics once I avoided the absolute cheapest stuff.

But of course, your mileage may vary. :guitar:

Thanks Duane, just pulled the trigger...
Ur welcome, good deal eh?

Amazon has a toshiba for $78.00 SHIPPED!
Yeah, you know, funny deal there--I'm kinda afraid to buy a Toshiba Blu Ray player because I think they're still kinda bitter over losing the Blu Ray -vs- HD-DVD format war. I fear they stuffed a Gremlin and a cup of water in there and are just waiting for the two to mix....then BOOM! "Fuck your new Blu Ray player, HD-DVD was better! Waaaaa!"

Don't doubt it could happen; I know just how tricky-assedd those Japanese can be...since I am one. LOL! If I were Toshiba, I'd damn sure put a Gremlin in every Blu Ray player I sold.

I went to walmart and the sony bluray rang up at $118. I was ecstatic.
Awesome, price matching with Amazon when you didn't even know they was gonna do it! Win!

Sheep, I hope you hit up your local best buy, they are selling certain blu-ray DVDs from 7.99, which includes one of my favorites, The Departed, down from $34.99!!!
I didn't....but I did order sum on Amazon.

Baaaaaaa, I resemble that remark...

Good thing I trust Duane's instincts....
That's what's up!

really? how do you feel about orange tennis shoes and caps???
Bob, you shoulda seen the yellow ones I was rockin' yesterday. Pete told me, "takes big ballz to wear those"

FYI the same player is still 109.99 at dell.com
I didn't even know Dell sold other people's stuff, much less random assed consumer electronic equipment. LOL!

IU love my blu-ray player, and as long as your not set on getting movies when they come out, they drop down to 7-12 bucks on amazon if you buy them used. Lovin it.
If you go to amazon today under the Black Friday deals section you can get some really nice blu-ray movies for nine bucks. I just picked up full metal jacket for nine bucks.

I am yet to upgrade to a Blue-Ray player. If I do that, I will need to upgrade my TV to 1080p. Right now I have a 55 inch Mitsubishi that I am totally happy with. Had it now for 7 years, 2nd TV that I have bought in 24 years.
Your eyes and brain can't even compute the difference for a 1080P tv that is under 60 inches vs 720P. For those that have a high quality 720P tv it is just as good in blu ray hd format.
Your Tv is prob (almost def to old). But don't fear because right now is the best time to not only upgrade tvs and electronics but with plummeting sales and the economy in general, shit is just dirt cheap. Some 5o inch sets that are extremely high quality are selling for 1200 or around that price mark. I paid 3500(on sale was 5k) for a 50 inch Pioneer Elite pro series Plasma 2 years ago. While still 1 of the best ever built for its time. There are now sets rivaling the quality for a little over 1000.00. Cnet.com is a great place for reviews and just google search a set model # in general and multi A/V forums will come up to aide in buying a new set.
