The videos are not so bad in mute. I personally don't give two shits if he has too many cigars, LE or not. It's his money and he can spend it anyway he wants to. 5 Dress boxes or whatever... Don't hate player, hate the game. Even if the manufacturer made sure each individual could only buy one box of the LE, the next person who missed out is going to cry foul. My problem with his video... his lack of knowledge on his cigars, terrible music and annoying accent. I would never buy a cigar without knowing the background on it. It's kind of important.

^ agreed. He kept stressing to the guy in the video how 'this one isn't on the market anymore. Limited to this many boxes blah blah blah' so it made it seem like that's the only reason he bought it. I'm not hating on the guy just found it funny.

I just sat down and watched them again; my favorite part is how he kept referencing the Cohiba Genios Maduro and how you cant get them anywhere, love the plethora of knowledge.

Well brothers I guess this is a learning experience for me. I didn't mean to get anyone pissed off. I just admired the man's passion for collecting. I think that his collection is absolutely amazing. If you don't then that's fine. Sorry for getting anyone too worked up, but I just posted the videos because I thought it was cool. My bad...

I watched a few of the videos, props to him.

My major issue as stated above by another brother is having more cigars then you could smoke in a lifetime. I love my stash, the cigars I smoke and the cigars I will buy. My stash is perfect economies of scale.

Maybe if I had the money, my purchases would outway consumption 10 to 1, but it dosen't.

Like most everything, taste is subjective, and I understand the various feedback regarding the videos.
The videos didn't bother me either way. I enjoyed seeing what he had. Nice to see some of the more arcane sticks, fake or not (like I would know). The MUSIC made me want to get into a hotel elevator, though.

I want to acquire the best that I can so that I will have them to smoke. I will have boxes put away to age while smoking others that have already aged, but not to keep just as collectibles. I respect that fact that he has spent the money that he has in acquisition, and that he is collecting to collect. That's great; to each their own. I'm not jealous, its just not my style to just collect for the sake of collecting. The fact that others do is great for them. Same with money; I am acquiring as much as I can so that my son and his family will be set when I am gone. But I'm not going to leave him my cigars! I want to run out of cigars as I take my last breath.

It's all good, man. Nobody is mad (as far as I can tell). Just differing opinions....that's all.

Appreciate that man. I hope no one is too worked up.

I think this is actually a good thread and everyone seems somewhat respectful of everyone's opinions. I think we all want to acquire cigars that we like and want a decent stash. But everyone has their own personal take on where the line should be drawn. I remember how good it felt when I felt my "collection" was to the point where, IMO, it was all cigars that I would smoke at any time, and that to me was what was important. If I had the money to have multiple boxes of favorites on hand I may very well do that. To me, it had never been about the quantity, but having the smokes I enjoy. I have talked to many BOTL's who after several years of "chasing" have lost that desire and just stick to keeping a decent stash of everyday smokes they enjoy.

Like me!!!!!!! Lol ;)
Edit: if this guy wants to buy 100k in cigars (which a couple brothers here may well have they just don't rightfully post it) who cares!?!?! I havnt seen the videos but if the guy wants to spend every dollar on cigars it's his money!!!!!! I've been known to have conversations with fellow fireman about my cigar spending and abruptly remind them of a bass boat, multy vacations a year or other big expenditures they all have. People that know me can attest to my frugal habits, except cigars and booze. It's your money spend.... it how you want. Just be responsible for your own actions when it's gone!

And if people have worked hard either thru education or just daily hard work! Good for them, we should all celebrate the spoiles of life's riches!

Man, if I invested that much money in cigars I wasn't going to smoke I'd sell my whole collection at Christie's as soon as I retired and set up a family bank account to pay for my children, and their children, and their children, and their children.

Awesome collection though.

You really don't think there are enough cigars there to convert into four generations of wealth, do you?

Funny, I was actually thinking of you when I put that last part together. I think a lot of us who joined here at the time we did in 08 all kind of feel that way now. Too many disappointing cigars you chase down, rather stick with what you know is good.
Actually, I think some of us who joined later have really benefited from this perspective provided by the more experienced crowd. I chased LEs in the first 6-9 months on the board and have mostly quit. I don't chase HTFs anymore unless I have heard from multiple people I trust that they're worth the effort, and much of the time I will still only chase cigars I can buy more of if I love them. (For example, I still chase Opus and regular production but scarce Liga Privada. I don't frequently chase one-off LEs.)

It's definitely a positive in my mind that a strong contingent on BOTL endorses identifying regular production cigars that are stellar.
