One of my cigar buddies is a psychologist who specializes in stress management. He refers to cigar smoking as "Turn Around Time." I.e., it's time to relax and reenergize.

Pa,
Along with enjoying the tastes and the relaxing time cigars bring, I love the collecting and aging aspect of it. The whole process of keeping the cigars in the right condition for the right amount of time. I also enjoy the researching. I spend hours reading reviews and trying to find that next cigar that I will love. I am also constantly researching prices and trying to find the next great deal. I love everything about this hobby, except for the occasional dog rocket I've smoke.

For me it's simply unwinding and decompressing. The scent of the cigar burning, the taste of the cigar on the palate just adds to the moment.

Flavor, flavor and flavor. Also I enjoy a nice nicotine buzz. Other reasons are relaxation, meditation and planning.

Some of the most kick ass ideas or strategies for how I'm going to deal with life etc. come to me while relaxing and having a smoke. It really does give my life focus sometimes.

Relaxation - whether alone or with fiends, nothing makes the daily stress just melt away any better. Flavor would be a close second.

Leisure, nothin better than relaxing on the porch with a book, a stogie, and a drink (beer, single malt, coffee, or tea) Life is too short to not stop and smell the roses...or smoke it's leaves.

I enjoy cigars as a hobby, as a way to relax, and because it's just fun. There are few things I get to do for just me - and this tops the list.

my sentiments exactly, I didn't know you could get so much from smoking a tobacco filled leaf.....not to take away from it in any way. It's kind of hard to explain it's just something you have to experience for yourself. Thats how'd I would explain it if someone asked me what it is like to smoke a cigar.

I guess for a couple of reasons. One would be just to relax, reflect on things in life, what I need to do, how to do it, etc. Second, and not least important, would be to hang with others and converse about anything. Lastly, would be obvious, for the great flavor.
