I have heard of people extensive methods like toasting the foot, letting it rest, then lighting it up.
I don't puff while lighting I just hold the cigar at an angle and rotate it about an inch from the torch.

toast... then light and puff lightly. I really take my time. I only light with a soft flame. torches just aren't my thing.

I toast the foot like a mad man till it has a nice even glow on it.. it takes a while so you have to be patient when in a hurry I'll toast it for a bit then puff to get going.

I voted for OTHER because I toast the foot good as well before puffing a flame. After the foot is toasted good I will rotate while puffing the light for good measure. This 95% of the time insures a solid and even burn.

I light and blow. I think the puff pulls the cherry to the center of the cigar mostly, but if you blow on the end, it flattens the cherry to the center and edges. IMO.
