There is no Mach 4 and no Gillette product has 4 blades. The Quattro has 4 blades. I have found that the Mach III gives a much, much, much better shave than a 1 or 2 blade razor. You compare a Bic to a Mach III and I will put money that you get way more irratation on your skin with the Bic. That would be with the majority of people. Some people could use a butter knife to scrape off the hair on their face because their skin is so tough. I have used quite a few razors and the Mach III has been far superior to all of them in my personal experience. People I have talked to also feel this way. It's not about being lazy....as a Mach III saves me no time and I really don't see how it would save you any time. The surface area is the same as any razor...you're missing the point. However, a 5 blade system is overkill. I really think the zenith has been reached. In case you all didn't know, the patent is running out on the Mach III and it has been purported in many places that this is the reason behind the Fusion. With the patent all done, Walgreen's, Wal-Mart and anywhere else can come up with a generic version of a Mach III refill. Notice you see generic versions of all razor refills and razors except the Mach III and Quattro and other new blades. This will change soon. So, bigo, I don't see myself as being "lazy" by using 3 blades. That really makes no damn sense.
Wow...I hope you didn't take this personally. So my exaggerated unsupported observation was wrong. Sorry. Just seems like to much anger.

My sense of thinking was that you have 3 blades going over the same patch of skin. The way I was thinking about it was that that was the same as the same blade going over that skin 3 times. Understand my reasoning. It was not to say you were lazy...I use the quattro as well.

I am glad to see that the price of refills will be dropping. The irritation aspect was not something that I was thinking about at the time. I was simply thinking that any sharp object will cut things. I do agree with you on the fact that the razor in my travel pack with one blade was used once b/c it cuts my face up.

I hope we can still be friends:dance:

You can get old school safety razors still...the blade is much sharper and of much higher quality then the modern ones. I read a thread on CW where this guy went and got some old fashioned shave cream, a brush, and a safety razor. He said it was the best shave of his life.
Yeah, that's what I did. Charles, the owner of QED, is a great guy to work with and can suggest good products to start with. With my sensitive skin, it's about the only way I can get a close shave.

Here's his website where I buy pretty much all of my supplies: http://www.qedusa.com/

I'm still waiting for some else to try the fusion and compare it to other razors, including the Mach 3.

5 blades is not, IMO, "overkill", since it works so much better (to me). I would like validation that I'm not crazy, so someone else try it.

I've never used an electric. Do you get the same "close" shave that you get with a true razor?

Definitely. I've used a Braun many times and found it to be just as good.

I've been using my Fusion over the past 2 months and I really like it a lot. It is definitely smooth then the Mach 3 ever was. I'm a fan

I'm waiting for them to bring back the ultimate in shaving tools ... Gillette's Guillotine!

Only one blade, but honed extra sharp for closeness. One stroke and you never have to worry about shaving again ... ever!!!

I'm loving the living hell out of my fusion for when I have to do the quick zip-zam morning shave. It's a whole lot sharper, it seems, than their past razors, and a bajillion times sharper than most 2 blade disposables.

Now, if I have time and want a real shave I break out the straight razor and do the whole shebanging ritual. So much smoother and nicer, but lordy do I take a long time to do it that way.
