Some good news/ bad news. Looks like the storm is not intensifying, but the path has changed to bring the eye right over downtown (where I live). We may get a 20+ ft storm surge which will basically cover Galveston and all low lying areas. All local gas stations near downtown are now out of fuel and supplies are running low. I am lucky to have an extra car I always keep fueled and I went to the store yesterday for water and non perishable food supplies. I will keep you all posted throughout the day tomorrow. The power will probably fail at some point, but I will be back when it comes back. I am sure we will all be fine, but please keep us on your prayers.

Still strengthening some and projected as Cat 3 for landfall again. The first band of tropical storm force wind and rain should be hitting in a few hours according to IR

Here's the visible imagery

The National Weather Service, normally conservative in their predictions, has stated that anyone who chooses to remain on Galveston Island or the Baja Peninsula faces certain death! I'm all the way in Dallas and we're expecting tropical storm strength winds and showers :bottle:

I send my best wishes to anyone who will be affected by Ike, not that there is much that can be done, but don't hesitate to ask for anything.
Send cigars, QUICKLY! We prefer Opus X! HURRY!

We're pretty far inland. Galveston has water up to the seawall (15-17 feet) since this morning.

There's been a few gusts of wind and some light rain but we're far from over.

The hurricane of 1900 was stronger than Ike. Add to that there was no seawall and no evacuations.

Getting to get some pretty good gusts here. Enjoying having electricity while it lasts. The images I posted are continuously updated (every 15 mins, IIRC).

The wind is really picking up now with very little rain. We'll be having hurricane force winds here in an hour or so.

All the news channels are making it out like Galveston will be F-ed. And it's 600 miles across

So far so good here near downtown! Major damage will be seen in Galveston. Serious winds will begin soon here. Right now light rain and some nice gusts. We are in for 8-12 hours of terrible weather. - still have power, but over 300K people are without. keep us in your prayers.
