I love Virginia...although, I'd move to southeastern Virginia to get away from the congestion.

Second would be North or South Carolina.

Colorado is my favorite state, so that would definitely be a consideration.

Lived in Maryland my whole life. For me and the family, we love it. DC is very close, about an hour away. Lots of fun free things to do like the Smithsonian Museums. Loads of restraunts, bars, and action too if that is your thing. Baltimore is also close, under an hour from me. Not my kinda of city, but again, lots to do. The Inner Harbour is fun and safe. We have the ocean 3 hours away. We have mountains 3 hours away. NYC is 4 hours away. We get 4 true seasons which is great to have. Sometimes they do not go in order, but I can not control that. No real natural disasters to worry about either.

FL and CA are great to visit, but I doubt I would want to live in either state. I despise the cold, so going north is out for me. Heading to AZ like Phoenix or Sedona or suburbs of Las Vegas, NV would be option #2 for me. All the browntones get boring, but would be a tradeoff for the nice weather year around.
NYC is 4 hours away and you're been there only ONCE!

Strange that you just sneak Colorado in there. The rest are nice and warm.
Well, I did live in the Dallas, Tx area for many years and I would not classify their year-long climate as "nice and warm". Hot summers yes, but I remember quite a few cold winter months with ice and snow. Eastern Colorado is very similiar.

Gotcha, looks like many would like to move to Colorado.

Almost eight years ago, I moved to where I've long wanted to live. As for why...well...if I have to explain it, ya probably wouldn't understand the answer. :bouncetau Alaska ain't for everybody but it suits me just fine.

It's funny that you posted this because I was just talking about this today. There is nowhere else in the country I would rather live. I love this part of the country.

I wouldn't mind living up in the mountains in the south but I really don't know. I don't like winter anymore but I also don't like the heat & humidity in the south. Arizona is out, it gets far too hot there for me.

I'm not too fond of Arizona. I think I'd go back to the Central Valley. Probably Lodi, kind of a small town and only a few minutes away from my hometown.

I still can't wrap my head around the thought that I could get through 8 or so states on the east coast as it would take me just to get out of Texas!

As long as we're what-if'n...... my ideal situation would be Colorado from April through October and Hawaii November through March.
