Just my take.....

It's "Hum-Vee" not Hummer.I appreciate the work involved in making that vehicle look like it does. And I am sure that they did a good job simply because no one would spend that kind of money on that vehicle and then get cheap with the modifications, but sheesh.

The Hum-vee is a utility vehilcle. Depending on the package, it can ford streams 4 feet deep, drive up a sand dune that a dune buggy couldn't , and probably tow a duec'an'a'half.

Why would you modify in such a way that you would change it into something it is not? I really do not have a problem with "conspicuous consumption" but this just bugs me to no end.

I have driven a Hum-vee through parts of a korean swamp......I mean rice paddy, (BTW, if anyone asks we were forced to do that because the road was flooded), and that was (almost) the most fun I ever had in Korea. That thing is a tool, and to modify it like that turns it from a tool into "Bliing".

I am not a real fan. :)

speaking of "conspicuous consumption" , have you seen "pimp my ride"?? they'll take a piece of crap 1992 ford escort and put $10K of modifications on it so its "pimped".. now, what's that all about? the engine is SOOOO going to die any moment now and they haven't done a darn thing mechanically. doesn't MTv have anything better to do with that money? just my thoughts...
also what up with the hum-vee limos? is that really necessary?

I dont know about the validity of it, maybe its on snopes, but I was told that MTV replaces the mechanical components as well with stock parts.... but either way, the amount of money poured into POS cars on there is ludacris

I've always thought about that. They dump all the money into the looks and never do anything to the motor, etc.

I think it's pretty funny that a bunch of guys who pay a lot of money to burn up some leaves are putting down "conspicuous consumption"

To each his own, if those guys are making money selling ugly trucks God Bless them, atleast they are running a legitimate business whether it's "ghetto" or not. That look may not appeal to us because most of us are not teenagers. I'm sure if you were given that truck as a gift for your 17th birthday you all would think that truckis the "bomb".

Now that is what I consider ghetto. If you have to put a lift kit in a car to put wheels on it something is wrong.
 I agree and believe that's called a donk :halfgrinw

And most of the people I know in the industry are in there late 20's to mid 40's. As far as the air suspensions dieing, never will happen. So many old school street rodders are now using them to give them that low look. With companies like air-ride tech creating new products monthly, you won't see them leave any time soon.

As for MTV pimp my ride. that is joke and a shame...I will not comment any more on that show.
