I enjoy the Reserva, hate the crianza and don't care for the criollo. However I never had any of the original blends so can't really make a comparison.

I was actually looking at it the other day but figured I'd kick myself if I got something totally awesome that is impossible to find again.
Noted. I'll see what I can do about that tomorrow.
No worries, I'm good but heard @Omerta likes Padilla

On his Instagram Account a few months ago Ernesto took some shots at Pete Johnson. Not sure if they have some history between them. I know Pete and Pepin go back a long way and are tight and Pete says he introduced Ernesto to Pepin but clearly there is some bad blood between them and I consider myself very much a Pete Johnson and Tatuaje guy so I can tell you where I stand as far as Mr. Padilla is concerned. In all honesty I'm glad you like his cigars and I would never tell a brother how to spend his money or what to smoke but Ernesto won't be seeing any of my business.

Aces- I see your point. At the same time I hate everything that McDonald's stands for- doesn't keep me from eating the occasional mcnugget.

Just from an outsiders perspective I think Ernesto was well set up to be a golden boy in the business- he was in tight with pepin before anyone else was and those sticks were truly world class. I'm sure it's hard to lose that, however that happened, and kind of meander here and there as far as switching makers/blends etc and going back and forth. I don't really get what he's doing because he was obviously set up well with Oliva too.
The one time I by chance met Ernesto while on business in Miami he was cool as the other side of the pillow- makes no difference as far as liking his cigars- I like them because I like them. Like I said I do wish, at least from my perspective, that he'd figure his shit out and have some consistency in the brands- and maybe that's what he's doing now. But at the end of the day as long as I find the smoke agreeable I shall puff the leaf- as we all should. I do see your side of it though.

i think you hit this right on the head. Without social media did everyone know what everyone did years ago? NO. Today, if you sneeze the wrong way everyone knows about it. Lets be honest, cigar makers and brand owners have prob been throwing jabs at each other for years and nobody outside of the business knew about it. Today we pretty much know everything that happens.

If the cigar smokes well and you like it, that is all that matters.

I've never understood that about the cigar community. You don't see people worried about whether the CEO of Bic and the CEO of Sharpie are throwing jabs. You just go in to a store and buy the writing utensil you like. I've had guys talk about refusing to buy certain sticks because so and so said such and such. I don't really care about their personal beefs. Just give me a good smoke and keep the drama.

I had two Padilla San Andres toros that a friend gave me. Both of them had super stiff draws. The taste was good, but they required a firm rolling akin to Mr. Miyagi fixing Daniel's leg. After that they smoked with an acceptable draw and a ton of molasses like sweetness mixed with pepper, cinnamon, and coffee. There were rye bread, chocolate, and berry tastes later in the stick. It produced a lot of smoke at the foot and smoked super slow. If I remember correctly it took just over two hours for me to smoke the toro.
