My opinion is to wipe and store or wipe em and smoke. You will receive a lot more with mold as you get deeper into the hobby.

Wipe off the mold and make sure it hasn't gotten into the foot. Dry box and seperate for a while.

I'm the new guy here. Could this be bloom? If it's white, not hairy and wipes off easily, then it could be bloom. Just a thought.

I think most people commonly confuse plume with mold. Plume is pretty rare I would say.

Its mold for sure.
It is likely warehouse that multiple vendors use. I got some Monte Edmundos in 5x3 with the same issue. A few other threads on other boards I confirmed same warehouse/vendors. They may not be around long anyway. Seems they have not gotten any new stock since those arrests occurred so they may not be a problem soon.

They will likely offer you replacement singles on your next order. That's what I was offered. Good thing some other vendors are not having their issues. As for the sticks wipe and store separately. The mold will keep comming back on the sticks likely and you don't want spores in your main humi, well I wouldn't. Would not suggest trying long term storage.

I've smoked a few CCs that were moldy and they tasted fine after wiping and resting. As long as the mold isn't blue and there is none in the bunch, they should be fine. I would rather receive moldy sticks than twig-dry sticks.

Well, I called my brother's friend's uncle who is friends with the same Cuban guy that got me the glass-top esplendidos at only 10% above factory price. I followed his suggestion of mixing a 50/50 PG solution in a spray bottle, misting each cigar thoroughly, and putting them back in the cab and placing that on top of the warmest appliance in my house for 36 hours. I saw this right before I woke up and realized it was a dream:

They're actually dry-boxing themselves for a few days outside the humidor while I wait for a reply from the vendor :)

If you can't get any relief from the vendor, wipe off the mold then wipe them down with soft towel dampened with denatured alcohol. The alcohol evaporates without any traces or affect on taste. Follow up with segregation and dry boxing.

The last box of Boli Corona Juniors I bought from them also had some surface mold, I thought it was because they encased the box in a thick plastic bag and I was away so it sat in the Post Office for a few days. Hell, even the lid of the box was warped! Guess it's just the norm for them. I was able to speak to a rep directly over the phone though, sending them back just seemed a hassle since they cleaned up nicely so I kept them and they seem fine. Rethinking using them again.

The vendor responded today offering a 100% refund on the product and compensation for return shipping up to $25. Not too bad. They also included advice on what to do to eliminate the mold should I decide to keep the cigars. They were all the same suggestions provided here. I'm keeping them obviously, as the mold wasn't that bad, but I appreciate the prompt reply on their end.

I'll continue to go to them for future orders as soon as they have what I want in stock. If I get annother box with mold, I will cease using them.

I'd return the cigars for a refund. This is one of the many reasons I don't use this vendor and others like them. Grey market means low prices but poor quality.

I think that is way to general of a statement. I have experienced unbelievable service from some grey vendors. It really depends on the vendor. They have hunted down box codes for me when others could not, responded to emails much faster and with a friendly personal manner, providing me spread sheets win their stock and box codes, etc. I was not treated the same by some non grey market vendors. The warehouse that the vendor is using here is the problem. That is if its the group of vendors I think it is. I generally stopped using this vendor. The others I use don't use that warehouse and the stock has been perfect. Including the countries anti smoking stickers. As I said in a previous post the vendor I believe is being discussed may be gone soon anyway.

If I ever start getting bad service I will stop using, but until then I couldn't be happier with the grey vendors I am using.

My 2 cents,

A good vendor will never ever send moldy or substandard cigars.

When mold is the problem, it means storage is an issue and mold is not the worst thing that can happen when storage conditions are poor. Plus, even if they appear fine on first inspection, the cigars themselves can be flavorless, bitter or acrid. There are reasons they end up at gray market vendors. If all you have ever had are cigars from these website franchises, you may find that once you start using a good vendor, you will notice that your cigars taste better.

I bought a box from one of these grey market franchises 5 years ago, covered in mold. As a result, I didn't use one of those vendors again until last year, when I took a shot. I received a box with beetle infestations. The vendor wanted me to return them at my cost and risk, prior to replacement. Of course that was unacceptable. Eventually, they replaced them and the cigars went in the trash.

You get what you pay for. I have NEVER received poor quality cigars from reputable vendors.

A good vendor will inspect cigars before they ship and know their stock intimately (I don't mean a spreadsheet). If you can't trust them to inspect your cigars, then you shouldn't be spending your money there anyway.

!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?! Are you serious? Have you, yourself, actually done this, or are you repeating something you heard? I can not imagine that not having an effect on the cigars.

Just wipe 'em down, get them to proper humidity, and they'll be fine. I'm referring to a small amount of mold like shown at the beginning of this thread. Obviously very moldy cigars need to be returned.

The problems of mold developing have become an issue since many vendors have switched to bonded warehouses to store their cigars before shipping. Where there is zero attention paid to the proper storage of cigars.

Like Tandblov says know and trust your vendor. Ones that actually store and handle their stock are the ones you want to use.
