Agreed. I feel like after this current BCS contract runs out (2017 I think) there will be movement to something other than status quo.
I wish I could believe that, bit as long as big business is involved there is no way it changes. Watch the commercials. They are practically mocking the fans.

This is going to be a really close game. I think Bama will win a close one. Rooting for LSU though.

As far as the BCS there is WAY too much money involved for the bowls to go away.

I agree, but there's even MORE money involved with incorporating the bowls into a playoff scenario! The bowls don't have to go away.
Exactly! The bowl games were there before the BCS. You can change the system to incorporate the bowl games and still have a playoff.

The only problem with the playoff is: how many fans can afford and will follow there team to say three or four diffent games in a month worth of time?

That doesn't matter....the NFL doesn't care about how many fans of the teams in the SB are at the actual game.

Fans of NCAAFB will fill the seats.

I am all about getting down to the real #1 and agree that the games can and will be sponsored. However one problem I see with a playoff system is fan travel. Do you have home games? I could not afford to go see my team play in two or three different games, but I would be more likely to go to one BCS game. Anyway....

There is a lot to consider and hopefully in the future there will be a better system cause I love this time of year.

Things that the confrences will have to look at for the system to change is how much money the invidual school/confrence would bring home.

If you could come up with a playoff that would give the confrences the same if not more money they would be quicker to change. The BCS could be apart of the playoff system using the major bowls to sponsor each round of the playoffs(but this could make sponsors to cough up more money). In the end for thoes that say a playoff will lessen the other bowls is BS! No matter what unless you play on Jan 1 or later your bowl really doesnt mean squat except to you and your school.

I think Bama takes it in a nail bitter.

I think I'm in the minority but I don't want to see a Playoff and would love to the bowl system go back to being about tradition when the bowls pitted conference champions against each other and was more about bragging rights than money. I remember Jan 1 mean't one thing, The rose bowl, granddaddy of them all Pac10 Vs Big10.

The BCS and talk of true national champions is just a way for the big conferences to cash in, that's why these smaller schools are joining any conference that will take them. Please can somebody explain to me how San Diego St. and Boisie st. can be part of the Big East.

I think you're definitely in the minority GoingPostal. The current setup is better than it used to be but still obviously not perfect.

My feelings are that traditions/rivalries are what make college football great so why the push to make it more like the pro game. I know the answer is MONEY.

I get that, the college game has changed and and the reason is money, no doubt. But I think the traditions within each school remain the same for the most part which is why alums love their schools. I can still go to Columbia, Missouri and hear people chant "M-I-Z....". and go to the Quad, and see a plethora of coeds.

As for the rivalries, that's probably more what you're getting at and I understand that. We just lost our rival of over 100 years (KU) because we switched to the SEC. It was the oldest rivalry west of the Mississippi I believe.

Oldest rivalry west of the Mississippi for FBS schools, maybe. Not the oldest college football rivalry west of the Mississippi. Cornell College and Coe College have played against each other since 1891. I only know this because I played football at Cornell.
