Was curious about Regional Releases in general, and came across this thread. Figured I'd top it instead of starting a new one.

Interesting read IMO. I personally was genuinely curious if the price these demand was worthy based on the quality of the smokes. Sounds as if it's a bit hit & miss. Not altogether unlike any NC LE, or CC LEs for that matter.

Stick to the Ramon Allones, Bolivar and Vegas Robaina REs. The REs for the other marcas have not been that good.

They definitely can be hit and miss, but the taste and value equation will always be subjective. The original RA Eminencia is my personal favorite and the SLR Asia Pacifico is a close second.

The Eminencias were quite outstanding. The RA Estupendos, Grandes, Petit Unicos and Phoenicios were also very good. The Boli Short Bolis were also excellent and I really liked the VR Maestros. Several of these are still readily available from the usual sources. I have a box of the SLR Pacificos and I want to say that, IMO, the jury is still out on these. I do like them because they are quite different than any other CCs I have.

I find the Pacificos fantastic and one of the best regionals I've smoked. I agree with you on all the RA's except I found the Estupendos disappointing. Maestros are fantastic as well. The ERDM Elegantes is great and will be better with time. I wish I had more than a few of the JL Obus left as it's fantastic and by far the best of the JL regionals.

The worst I have had were the RA estupendos and the RA CFs..terrible. The PL belis are developing as we speak as show promise. The PL alemania are getting good (smoking one now)..RA alemania belis are among the best ever IMO, Boli liberator france are awesome, boli alemania colosiales are good, JL Obus was decent, ED contes may be the best ever, VR adriatic was blah, boli esp 2 lanc are spectacular...never had any punch REs..don't care much for punch..nor have i had a SLR re.

The RACFs were terrible. Some people seem to like them however. The RA Germany Belicosos are pretty great. Forgot about those. The RA France Belicosos (forget the actual name) could be great with some age on them.

It's just such a chore to track down all of the regionals. I decided to stick mainly to the RAs, Belis and VRs as a result. There are some interesting REs coming out this year. Another Edmundo Dantes and there's an interesting Italian RE coming out as well.
