and it was reviewable. simultaneous catch is reviewable in endzone, not in field of play. so the fact that this could have been overturned is now even more of a clusterfck lol

Nope,,,,read the rule on this and Jennings had possession of the ball....it was not simultaneous at all. The problem is that the call could have been reversed by the guy in the upstairs box
it's actually not a review-able play.
Then why did they refer the call to the guy in the box to make the decision? There are so many people going over these rules that one NFL Ref who they bring in to advise says one thing...another person says another. The real thing is that it doesn't matter...the game is over but the debate continues. At the end of the day instant replay tells the story but the call was made by the last person to review it...the guy in the box and that was radio'd down to the ref in the white hat...game over and the Packers lost.

I'm just sick of ppl blaming the NFL for not getting back the union refs, how about we blame the union refs for refusing to play without their demands. Should the NFL simply give them whatever the want? Let's say every ref wanted to be payed a billion a yr (hypothetically), would it still be the NFL's fault for not agreeing to their terms and hiring refs that will work for a fair price?

The point is what the Refs ARE asking for is not that much compared to the hundreds of billions that the NFL is raking in. Normally I would agree with you but proportionally it is such a small amount that the NFL IS AT FAULT. Just my .02

at this point yes. if i was a union ref today i am on the phone stating i want 1 million per game, or you can keep having catastrophes like last night. the outcome of last nights game puts the refs in a very good negotiating position.

I saw this point on ESPN this morn. Imagine if this would of happened to the Cowboys. Jerry Jones would be having a shit fit. Or the Pats, or any other team with prevelant owners. Unfortunately, the Packers dont have and owner. They are publicily owned. So its my understanding, that it just makes this worse. Or harder to fight anyway.

The owners are the ones locking the refs out, I really do not think Jerry Jones or Robert Kraft would turn on all the other owners in the league in regards to the dispute. Now, if last night the commish got a call from 10 owners around the league stating hey this is enough you need to make a deal, one will be made.

Right. But I think the point was that if it happened to a team owner, maybe they would see it the other way. And at least try to convince everyone else that there needs to be a change. This has playoff implications all over it. This is so nuts. God forbid this happens to my team, because someone is going to wind up in the river. Hahaha.

As bad as this is right now, imagine if Seattle makes the playoffs by only one game, or Green Bay misses the playoffs by one game. Or the worst case, Seattle gets a wild card over Green Bay by 1 game, then this becomes even bigger. It isn't pretty that's for sure.

The owners and NFL want to break the union. Player safety doesn't matter (DB's are headhunting again, see Derius Heyward Bey). League isn't going to budge, it's a take it or leave it with the refs. Why? because no matter how bad the calls get we(the fans) will watch. You want the refs back, fans have to turn the tv's off, don't go to games, untill the regular refs are brought back. This will never happen so the league and owners will just grin and bear it till the union breaks.
