Hello again brothers and sisters of the leaf!

Don't get TOO excited, just another review!

Yesterday afternoon I smoked the Alec Bradley Select Cabinet Reserve robusto. This was a gift from a very generous brother, cc jefe! This stick is a perfect 50 RG by 5''. My personal favorite size cigar. They run for about $6.25 I believe.

It was a very very very cold day up on the UAlbany Campus!!

This cigar had a beautiful brown wrapper, with no significant veins. It was a bit toothy to the feel, and very firm to the touch.
Pre-light draw was tight, and had a mixture of fruit and heavy tobacco. A very appealing stick overall so far, with a beautiful, elaborate band.

This stick lit up quite well, but was low on smoke due to the tightness of the draw. It definitely got better as the cigar burned on and softened up a bit.

Right off the torch I taste notes of sweet coffee and wood. Nuttiness emerges within the first half in or so to accompany the coffee and wood. Spice is extremely delicious through the nose.

The burn was a little choppy in the beginning, but evened out and gave me no trouble for the rest of the smoke.

I accidentally knocked the ash off while I was zippering my jacket, but the ash was a nice, light gray color and held pretty well.

The start of the second third brings on a bit of a change. The spice starts to come through with previous levels of woodiness increasing. Farther along the second third, I taste hints of cream on the end of my pallet. By the last bits of the second third, the spice is almost completely subdued.

Is this quadruple capped? (not experienced enough, so I don't even know if it exists!)

It's such a beautiful day, but so cold I need gloves!!

The final third brought on a bit of nuttiness that reminded me of fall. The first signs of earthiness during the last third mixed with a subtle cream made for quite a tasty finish!

Ample amounts of smoke at the end, and a nice variety of flavors made this a very very delicious smoke! Thank you cc jefe!!

And I finally lay the cigar to rest. I was getting so cold, I could barely hold it between my frozen fingers!! The gloves weren't doing much for me...they were pretty thin.

This was a very nice smoke, perfect for a cold fall day!

I would give this stick an 87/100. Very enjoyable, and at this price point, might buy a fiver at some point.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you guys enjoyed!!

Great review I am smoking one of these tonight thanks to Shuckins. I will be buying these next time I see them on special guarenteed. I am not one who likes ab sticks normally, but this one was very good to me.
As I always say I have the pallet of a goat so generally dont taste what many taste.

I agree on the initial draw is tight yet it opens up.
The prelight I got a lot of earth and tobacco.
Initially I tasted some hay and citrus/acidic which I taste in a lot of Nicaraguans.
There is a ton of woodiness to this stick more than normal. I didnt get a lot of spice though it was there but very faint in comparrison to a Tat or DPG. I did get some nuttiness in the end. I agree there was a fair amount of flavor changes in this stick. It was medium to med full flavor wise, but medium to medium mild in strength.

The aroma of this stick was very plesant and woody. I really just enjoyed the aroma a lot so much it surprised me. It also never got hot which was impressive as I thought it would at the end. For me and my profile this was an 88-89. I enjoyed the flavors and aroma and at the price these can be found sometimes its a really good deal. If you are looking for a medium bodied flavorful stick thats easy to smoke this is a good choice.

Great review, thanks. I've been trying more of the AB sticks but not yet this one. Have yet to come across one I disliked.

Regarding the tight draw comment, it's been my experience that off-the-truck sticks (regardless of brand) have about a 50/50 chance of having a tight draw, even those which are not typically tight. I punch them and let them rest for a couple months, and the draw seems too loosen up and be quite nice.

Is this typical for you fellers as well?

That's a fantastic review. Thank you. I wish my palate was half that developed. I've been an Alec Bradley fan since my first Maxx. My dad is on his third box of the 1997s and swears they're the best $50/box cigar out there. I've had a couple and can't say I disagree (although I usually go for something a bit stronger). I was really excited when I read that they came out with 3 new lines this summer but I haven't had the opportunity to taste any of them yet. I'm currently in love with the Pryme, but they're getting harder to find.

Yes I do this as well. Grab a cigar cut it and if the draw is tight let it rest in the humi. Most of the time these are OTT, I have no patience hahaha

I'm the worst with letting cigars sit...don't have the patience for it. Unless I promise myself and am saving it for a specific reason...like my opus (graduation 2013)
