I met Sammy on two occasions. Besides being a Penguins fan  he was a really nice guy. I hope that this time around he does more with the traditional vitolas. Like many here have also said, I'm not a big fan of the baseball bat sized smokes. I wish him luck with his new endeavor and I look forward to giving his smokes a try.

I never had any problems with Sam. Met him a few times and he was always approachable, good natured, and a good guy to be around. I will say I don't expect him to do any "traditional" vitolas, i.e. robusto, corona etc. He is a big RG guy and might roll a lancero. Other then that I see him being more gimmicky with his sizes.

Hit me with your address and I'll send the ones I have your way. Would rather see 'em enjoyed than wasted.

Awesome... thanks so much.

Every time I've given one to someone on the course, they've enjoyed 'em. And keep in mind, these aren't the only sticks in my humi... people actually grab these on their own volition, and I've had a couple people ask me where they can buy them after the round is over.

Nubs got me BACK into cigars after a 20+ year break. Granted, my preferences have evolved, but I am grateful. Great beginner sticks.

Like pfm said, the pics and rhetoric sorta bum me out. But it is what it is, and I will try to take it in stride. If they are good, I'll smoke'm, but he has his work cut out for him. Again, I'm grateful to be back smoking and wish him well, he has worked hard and deserves success if the product is good. That said, a private plane?! Really? REALLY?!

Funny everybody that has posted in this thread and has meet him have nothing but good things to say about him "personally". You the guy who has not meet him seems to think different.

Even if my experience was different, I can't fault anyone for believing what (most likely) a fellow cigar smoker has to say.

Beyond that, I think you might have misread HD's post.

I think Bob was talking about THE people that HAVE met him personally and was making a comment on difference, THAT'S ALL.

Just saying.....

I'm going to be up front, I know Sam and have hung out with him more then a couple times and consider him a friend. So you can take what I say with a grain of salt.

I see (and not just this forum) people b*tch about the marketing, and the RG of his (new) cigars right off the bat before they are even out. For example "Why are they all massive?", well I do recall seeing one being 6 1/2 x 52, while that is not small its not massive at all by today standards. I looked up an online cigar store and just looked at the cigar companies starting with A, and there was 16 cigars that had a 60 RG! And many more at 58 RG, so this is going on everywhere not just by one person. As far as the marketing? I'm I the only one noticing that all the marketing going in is to some kind of extreme one way or another! Not going to name names but it is all out there.

I wish Sam all the best because I do know him personally and think he is a great guy! And I hope all those that have already made up their mind before the cigar comes out will at least give it one try.

I didn't think I would enjoy the Nub cigars, just didn't get the hype, but now that I have had a few and gotten them pretty cheap online I do enjoy them. I have also had the Cain F which is strong, but I would buy again. I'd like to see what he comes up with regardless of the flashiness of his website.

I'm also interested to see what he can do on his own, without Oliva's tobacco and blenders to back him up. A little suprised that he's got his own company as it was my understanding that he had a 5-year no-compete clause in his contract with Oliva. Even though I don't really like big RG cigars, I'd be interested in trying his blends just out of curiosity. Though I have not met him, I know many people that have met him a few people that know him and I've heard both good and bad. I'll reserve my opinion for when/if I meet him, but if the cigar is good I might pick some up. Just wish he would make some smaller RG's for those customers that don't like larger sized cigars.

I know most around here arent big fans of the big RG's but everywhere I go as a broker Im constantly getting asked if the companies I work with offer their cigars in anything 60RG. My personal sweet spot is 44-54 but the big RG's are the big sellers in todays market.
