What a tool for having such poor judgement. But obviously times weren't too tough for him if he had $ to buy dope. Good riddance.

I did the same thing for a friend of a friend. He needed a job bad. I went to bat for him and he got hired. Worked like a mule! He kept three shirts in his locker he worked/swet so much... He worked great for about 2-3 months then went AWOL...
They kept asking me where he was and the third day of no-call-no-show, they fired him. My friend handn't heard from him either.... then we did, his wife got an insurance settlement and decided work wasn't for him!

Made me look bad just like you. From now on, I don't refer no-one unless I know them personally.

As already stated by many people, that's the problem when you get involved with other people's job opportunities. Almost as if you have to make sure the person never ever makes a mistake the entire time he's working there.

I guess the bad employee got "weeded" out....

>groan<

Seriously, very good that you did NOT actually endorse the guy, which you should make VERY clear to all of your upper management/HR folks.

Big difference between simply handing off a resume on someone's behalf, and wholeheartedly endorsing and/or recommending someone personally.

Wow, maybe that tool should get in touch with one of my friends... my friend is a lawyer in Florida who specializes in certain "freedoms." He is becoming quite the known lawyer in the hippie world!?!

Pot smoking attorney .... sounds like Tony Serra from San Fransisco.
(The movie True Believer starring James Woods was based on him.)

So, you never gave him a referral so I wouldn't worry about it. You didn't hire him.

He left on a high note. LMAO!
Hahaha! Too funny. Anyways, I have done this as well, only I'll tell the person flat out if you fuck this up your on your own. Luckly the guys I've helped out got there shit together and have turned out to be good employees.
