Did my g/f's for her night before last, and I'm waiting on mine, my return seems entirely too small I'm going to have an accountant buddy look over 'em.

If we didn't have two kids and a house we would have paid out almost 6k! Fucking taxes! ....

Same here Todd - we have 3 kids - The child tax credit is the only reason we'll be getting back anything this year. I sent the taxes in electronically on Friday using TurboTax - so we're all done here. Getting enough money back to pay off our one credit card, buy a bunch of good cigars and put some in savings.

I will be doing mine in the next two weeks. This is the last year of deduction for my oldest son who graduated college last spring. Next year's taxes will really suck!

I claim 8 dependants through my employer, and stash about 9% away in my 401K so that the government gets as little tax money as possible. I also itemize as much as possible. It also helps that we have no state income tax down here.

I still don't have all the paperwork, but have most of it. Baring any of that missing paperwork having weird stuff in it, I should get back a decent sized chunk. Wish I could just spend it, but it's gonna go make a tiny little dent in my CC bills.

Oh yeah, and I use TaxCut from H&R BLock. Works well.

Tax season is not going to be pretty for me. I just hope I won't have to sell off my entire collection to cut the IRS a check.

Got my forms, gotta file soon. Most likely will file online for free since I have worked less than 3 months this year. I guess that means I will get money back too.

i dont know, i came very close to breaking even last year... but this year will be harder

the whole 45,000 from credit card tips that have virtually been untaxed until now is not a good thing... and the fact that i only worked there for 8 months

but paying for school is a dollar for dollar write off so that helps A TON....

but I can only wait on my dad to do em..

I will pay over $30,000 in Federal taxes alone this year (same the last few) so I am not looking forward to it. I am going to get going early this year and call my accountant as I usually get a refund with the ranch deductions.
We pay more in taxes than some people make in year. I don't know about you, but I'm just gratefully and feel truly blessed I have a job that allows me that.

I just might regret asking, but what hell. How so on the depression?
IIRC, there were no taxes before the great depression. How else would the gov't pay for all the aids that were enacted because of the great depression? Taxes generated revenue and WWII helped to get us out of the depression...

Atleast that's what I remember vaguely from history class... :hysterica

Actually the first tax return came out in 1914, pre-depression. I only know because dad is a CPA and he a has a copy of one hanging. Care to rethink the depression as the cause? :usaflag:
