Mine actually went pretty smooth this year, and I'm getting a healthy refund. It doesn't make up for the cost of having kids, but every little bit helps. If I could just get through a year without credit card debt all this refund could go straight to the savings account. Instead most of it goes to paying off the last years accrued debt.

Man lucky that sucks about all the troubles you are having. Hope all goes well.

Turbotax has always made it a lot easier. I also had a descent refund, thanks to the kid and my wife for going back to school. And it to is all going to debt. But this should be the last year that happens. We are on a payoff plan to knock everything out. Anyone interested just check out Dave Ramsey's philosophies.

While I am not a follower of Dave Ramsey, I have been doing my own version of what he preaches. This years tax refund was the FIRST tax refund in YEARS that wasn't meant to go to something else. It put a massive bump in the savings. The credit cards are almost down to 0 all the way across, and we are putting money into savings. Next step is to take some of the money for the CC's and put it towards lower interest loans. Finally, it will be the student loans. Once that is all said and done, we can work on getting a house.

This year has been a great year!

Thats great! After we laid out our plan and saw how fast we coukd get it paid off, that just motivated me a even more. That way future returns can go towards fun things like smokes and homebrewing!

Is it weird I still use an accountant despite being on w2s for years now? Made sense when everything was 1099 but now it's just so convenient

I loved my accountant she was the grandmother of my cousins friend but they went from 35 to 50 to 80 I was like check please! im done!.... turbo tax is so much easier. I'm getting a refund this year but most of it is already accounted for. Next year is going to be nice though I set up my papers at work to take a little more out. If I didn't have kids id be ordering a coolordor and a box of lp s but nope its going towards a new car seat and some nursery work, and im ok with that ;)

Those look pretty cool! Ill let her know about em. Im not picking shit this time around. Ill let her pic that way if she don't like it I wont have to hear about it lol. She asked me about pumps I told her wasn't getting into that.... to much room for error lol. I did however pick the last car seat. I got this guy http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Simpson-93000-Gavin-Child-Car-Safety-Seat,55449.html?utm_source=bingcse&utm_medium=cpc&UTM_Campaign=CSEBing&CAWELAID=530009170000042263

The graco nautilus 3 in 1 is a great seat. Only faces forward though so not good for a bit.

I use an accountant as well. Getting a much healthier refund and I dont have patience for Turbo Tax. My accountant doesnt charge me much and gets me optimum returns. I always believe in having as little CC debt as possible throughout the year. I only keep healthy debts (Mortgage, student loans)

I second that recommendation. When we moved out of the seat that is used when they are infants (the one that has the handle and snaps in and out of base) we have been on britax ever since. This is probably the engineer in me, but i inspected it and you can tell its very well built. Also they are very easy to install, which makes much less room for error and installing unsafely. And i have installed the cheaper ones before and they are a pain in the ass and not intuitive at all. And yes I know they meet all the requirements by NTSB (or whoever set the standard), but the seats only have to meet the minimum standards imposed on them and they are still a manufactured item so there is room for error that could make a weakenss. Britax meets and exceeds standards. And they arent too much more $$ in the scheme of things. Always check out Google Shopping. What i have found is the two cheapest are Amazon or Diapers.com

Good, I luckily haven't to deal with their Cust Service yet. But now that you mention it I know someone that did because they couldnt get the car seat as tight as they wanted and they service talked them through it very quickly and efficiently. And i will stick with a brand/company if they have good service along with a good product.

I think we have hijacked the taxes thread into a car seat thread!

lol it happens! and I concur that customer service makes the difference. In my line of work there are at least 100 other stores in the stl area that do what I do but my customer service makes the difference and keeps me steady
