"Your endorsement of the petitioner would be an endorsement of smoking and an endorsement of cancer," he added. "And it would send a wrong signal to our children."
Couldn't agree more. So sadThis is the pussification of America continuing.

I've smoked at most of my kid's baseball games, one even at respectable distances from people. No one has said anything yet. I would love a lounge in mt. Prospect. I go there 4-5 times a year.Nate, do NOT understimate the sensory sensitivity of the tobacco nazis. Couple years ago I had a teens' soccer coach come and find me from well over 100 yards, through a thin woods and up a hill to tell me that my cigar was bothering his players. UnfnbelieveableMan, what a load of crap. Like you could smell a cigar lounge a half block away ... scientifically impossible. And the noise would be less than a bar, which is already there!
Bull & Bear? I'm in Geneva so the opposed cigar lounge isn't going to affect me much but it's still a pisser.Sorry to hear that! Here in Naperville (upscale and uptight) we have a nice place in a strip mall! So, at least that's not the sentiment throughout all of Chicagoland.
Yes it is. I've also gone to The Foundry in Aurora (it's on Rte 59 right on the border of Aurora and Naperville). You can drink there, too, whereas I don't believe that Bull & Bear serves alcohol. There is a shop in Woodfield Mall (well, around the parking lot I think.)Well now i hate people too. I work 5 minutes from there in Des Plaines... and have been looking for somewhere in the NW burbs to smoke. So annoying.
but they didn't inhale or enjoy it.Not to sound overly negative or overly-general, but…
I would love to know how many of the people who spoke against the store are really NIMBYs (not in my back yard)? Wanna bet several of them actually enjoy a cigar but, due to peer pressure, aren't comfortable admitting it? While I don't necessarily advocate a *total* abandonment of boundaries and limitations when it comes to things that give us pleasure, the net result of puritanism is that we still do those things but we do them in secret and become liars and sneaks.
