I agree with just about everyone here. Truly sorry to hear about your health issues.

Do whatever you feel with your stash. I believe being content in your mind will help you weather whatever else life throws at you. Best wishes brother!

Sorry to hear about your health and the loss of a long past time and hobby. The good thing is however you do this there will be happy people at both ends, who ever you sale/gift the sticks to and who ever gets the money to help others with your condition. Wish you comfort in your coming years

I feel for you - and our BOTL who is dealing with testicular cancer. I have a couple of thoughts for you - meant to help only - please don't take it the wrong way. Lotteries can be illegal depending on state law, so just be careful with that idea. It is also against federal law to sell CC'S in the US. So, having said that, I think the member(s) who suggested putting your stash into "blind samplers" had the best idea. I think they would sell quickly if priced right. Best of luck to you!

I haven’t posted regularly in about 9 months or so. Back in December 2013 I had to have a third surgery for my Crohn’s Disease (a couple more feet of intestines gone). Since that time I’ve had more problems than in the past if I smoke a cigar (smoking is bad for those have Crohn’s Disease, but I haven’t been affected by it too much until now). I get quite sick for a few days and it’s no longer worth smoking cigars as I have been for the past 40 years.

My big question now has been what to do about my stash of cigars that I have sitting in my humidor. I’ve been trying to think of a BOTL way to distribute them and not try to sell them off in small lots. Since I know how much BOTLers raffles I was curious if selling 100 numbers which I would I tie to the Dow Jones on a specified day – whoever matches the cents portion or the Dow Jones would win my entire collection (I could also use the NASDAQ, which would win a small samplers).

I haven’t counted my cigars in a while – but I have a couple hundred premium cigars (no crap) about half CC and half NC – mostly robustos – along with a bunch of accessories.

Once I figure what I have to get rid of I could decide on decent price to charge for each number ($10 to $20) and I would give the majority of the money to CCFA (Crohn’s Colitis Foundation of America) or something similar.

My questions are (if you gotten this far) are:
1) would something like the above met the BOTL requirements?
2) how many people would actually be interested in something like this (if I set a limit of 1 or 2 per person then I would need a minimum of 50 people).
Sorry dude. Raffles are used by BOTL for official site use only and auctions are for charity. CC's are not sold in the trading room. Sell the non-cc's by batch in the trading room. Check out the rules first.

Unfortunately, blind samplers are also against the rules here.

OP, feel free to PM me, I and others could point you in the right direction, CC-wise...

Update - based on the info from the admin and others - I've been told that raffles and blind samplers are not allowed due to the nature of the cigars in my collections. So with that, I will sign off and wish everyone the best. Keep smoking as long as you can since you never know when you may be forced to stop.

So he can give away his CC'S but not sell them?

Best of luck brother. Let us (me) know if there's anything we can do to lend a hand.

The guidelines are clearly posted in the trading forums. Best of luck.
