I had an '03 HdM du Prince after lunch today. I enjoyed this very much. It was not too heavy but had plenty of taste for an after lunch smoke. The only drawback was a slightly firm draw.
I didn't get a chance to post this one yesterday so here it goes.
I have been sitting on 4 special NC's from my Secret Santa (The Searcher) and finally got the chance to try one last night. I believe they are all custom rolled from the Cigar Factory in Mesa, AZ and all are rolled with 10-15 year old leaf.
I smoked the 6x52 Torpedo tonight. This is one great cigar! The draw on this baby was perfect. It reminded me of a Choix Supreme which is one of my favorites. It had that smooth and creamy cuban characteristic about it. It was definetly the closest NC I've had that smoked like a cuban. I can't wait to try the other 3. Thanks Jerry!!!
Todd you need to try yours and see if you get the same feeling.
Beauty in simplicity i.e. words wouldn't do justice.
Basically un-fuggin believable. EASILY worth the $40 F.M.V. and that's a high number compared to what they should go for. In my top 10 ever; easily.
Did a Fuente family comparison yesterday, all maduros: AF Double Chateau, Montesino Gran Corona, and Sosa Governor, all fairly large sticks made by Fuente and priced within about half-a-buck of each other. The Double Chateau kicked ass, especially in terms of holding its flavor to the end. Interestingly, on a price per inch or ounce basis, it was probably the best buy.
Dicided to go nc for this afternoon, fired up a nice Don Carlos robsto, I think am going to smoke a monte# 4 on the way home and and partagas lusi this evening
I stopped by the shop Mithshrike and Searcher have been raving about and picked up a couple of his locally rolled smokes. I had a robusto, not sure what it was - looked like a maduro wrapper, medium body...not bad.
