Yesterday I had an '05 Monte 5 in the afternoon then a '99 Partagas Lonsdale and an '03 Bolivar Coronas Junior during the poker game at David's. And, of course, several puffs of a Pineapple White Owl after I got my ass kicked.

Ahhhh, this got me thinking. I don't know much about cuban aging but, are cigars like when where they peak and then die off?
It depends on the cigar marque and vitola and how they were stored. I have smoked some mid 70's cigars that were so full of flavor you'd have thought they were fresh.

The way they are stored is a big determining factor in how they taste at 20 or 30 years...even with perfect storage, certain cigars may only improve so much and then fade away.

Each cigar has it's own inherent potential, so to speak. Craig is probably one of the best on the boards to be able to talk about this. Some Cubans, while almost all improve with age, will not improve all that much, or will reach a peak very early. Others will continue to improve for decades. Check out some of Craig's posts and you'll sometimes see him talk about being able to taste in a young cigar whether or not it has potential to really blossom with age. If you have access to MRN's book you can also see this in his minimum recommendations for aging for different cigars to a certain extent.

Today I rode in to work with Todd and had an '02 QdO Corona with a cup of Cuban Torquino coffee :dunno: from Windowrx. It was a good combo.

Hmm, If memory serves me, tonight should be a Davi DP with a friend at a local hang out. If he forgets to bring em I'll likely go with an 02 Unico

Lots of good smokes lately for me as my resolution was to live life to the fullest this year. Dumb, I know, but certainly rewarding!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...
(little does he know I just recycle info I've heard from MUCH more versed brothers than I. If I ever have original thoughts that I post, I would imagine they could, at best, be referred to as opinions)

It's interesting that Todd feels these are past their prime. Todd, was yours in Cello, or out? The Cello'd ones are from 5-packs of an unknown age and I have never smoked one of those. The SBN version is, IMO, no where near even peaking with 20 years of box age so far. In fact, I feel there's so much room for further development that I have transfered 1/2 my box of 85's into a Cohiba Lancero varnished box in order to further retard the transformation to take advantage of the amount of time longer that I feel they could be stored for.

Well, with the wind blowing about 3,247 mph, and the temp hovering about 55, I'll wait until tomorrow...too windy and cold for me...

Had one of those Cuban Conterfiets from JR Cigars. I always wanted to try one and for 3 bucks it wasn't bad.
