Exactly... if that is true what Larry said, what a frickin' joke! LOL I have enjoyed some Viaje cigars but it is very obvious they are trying to steal all the marketing ideas and I would lose all remaining respect for them if that is the truth.

Did Andre actually tell you that Larry? Incredible...

I thought preproduction cigars were put out there to create a little hype about a new blend and get a little feedback on the cigar :dunno:

When I spoke with Andre (Viaje Cigars) today he was very, very upset that this information was released and could result in no release at all!
Guess he needs to employ better people to keep their mouths shut or tighter security over his new stuff coming out. Don't know why he would be upset, just creates more hype for his sticks.

hmmm...this is very fishy. first off I mean why would he care if someone got a hold of one and posted a review? what difference does it make in regards to releasing them or not? and second why did this store have them!??? I can't help but feel this is causing a huge stir and this post will get 5,000 hits and maybe just maybe he will have accomplished what he really planned...

I sure hope not, i have to think he has more integrity than that but who knows...

Either way it's BS if you ask me. Either he's feeding Larry a bunch of BS full well knowing he will let everyone know on the boards... just creating a stir and hype over his cigar/brand. Or, he's for real and being a drama queen because he let one of his cigars out to the public and now says he's not going to produce it because he's mad?!? LOL :lookaroun

Well as a result of c1garfan releasing this information way before anything was decided by anybody, Andre (Viaje) indicated that the cigar may now not be released at all.
Or... maybe he realizes he's being a piece of crap for flat out stealing DPG's firecracker cigar and knows there's too much time between now and the 4th to get away with stealing such an idea. Hhhmmm... Firecracker / TNT with a fuse. Wow, where did he get that idea???

Okay, I'm done being bitter about this whole crock of crap!

That's crazy. I call bs....if he has the sticks for this 7/4 then they are already rolled or what not...right? No way any company would trash the release at this point. Drama queen maybe?
Whatever it is, I won't buy cigars from a company like that.

It is true that he should have them rolled by now so that they can sit for a few months prior to the release... and like you said, no self respecting company would toss a project!

As long as the quality of the brand stays intact..no harm no foul. However should they be creating a project to gouge the cost on there fan base then shame on them! I really think integrity says alot about someones or somethings character.

This really sounds like a marketing ploy to me which could backfire:argh:

maybe I'm being optimistic - but the Firecracker is an exclusive size to 2Guys. They don't carry Viajes, so maybe Andre didn't know about it until after some samples came out - then thought "woops - my bad", and decided to pull the plug so that he doesn't look like a copycat.

Lets give the man a break. Convicted until proven innocent fellas.

Geez - like I said in the review for the cigar:

maybe I'm being optimistic - but the Firecracker is an exclusive size to 2Guys. They don't carry Viajes, so maybe Andre didn't know about it until after some TNT samples were sent out - then thought "woops - my bad", and decided to pull the plug so that he doesn't look like a copycat.

According to Larry, thats not what he said or implied at all...

Had that been what was said I would understand and would have respected him rather than they way I feel now....

I really doubt that... And either way, he still looks like a copy cat... because now there is at least one picture of it out.

Andre's no slouch to marketing - to say he wasn't aware of the Firecracker would be implying that the man isn't paying attention - seeing how he's using alot of 'familiar' ideas, marketing techniques & distribution avenues for his new products just proves that he's paying very close attention.

I think his products are excellent (loved the 50/50 - kinda AC/DC)... But the 'game' is beyond a coincidence now. If Andre can get back to making great sticks with his own ideas, focused on quality, taste & innovative sticks - no harm no foul - nothing wrong with a little hype.

Also consider that imitation is the sincerest form of flatery - I say: release the TNT, have fun with it - maybe even publicaly state - "I saw the Firecracker & loved the idea"... But don't set yourself up to be known as a 'copycat'- otherwise, you'll always be a cover-band & never the headliner.
