I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. So he is going to stick a long "fuse" pigtail on the cap. Is everyone saying that every company that does a triple cap is copying the cubans? Or better yet since DPG and Tatuaje are really well known for cuban style construction are all the non cuban brands like Illusione copying DPG and Tatuaje? To follow that reasoning then everyone that does a barber pole might be copying the BTL.

I love how people get their panties up in a wad so far up their ass that they are pissed about a product. If you don't like something don't buy it. I'm sure Viaje will have NO problem selling these cigars if they were released even with half this site psuedo boycotting them for "copying" a DPG cigar.

x 2.

It's not like this is a "bride of Frankenstein" cigar being released at Halloween. And I wouldn't exactly call the DPG Firecracker a cigar phenomenon outside of maybe the cigar forums. I just got my first one a few weeks back. I don't know what all the "i might not release now" thing is about......but I'm not going to make a decision about what someone said in a private phone conversation. Big deal.....it's just a cigar after all.

The domestic cigar industry and the current trend of "limited" are shooting themselves in the foot. They also put a strain on their own customers by inflating the demand. The days when quality stood on it's own now is null and void.

No hype, no merit. Controversy sells.

This couldn't be more true. Sadly, I'm an admitted victim of this. Every time I tell myself that I'm getting tired of all the LE's....and I'm going to pass.....I end up looking for them.

Call it competitive spirit, call it the "thrill of the hunt".........but mostly......I call it "a problem"...LOL!

I do agree, generally speaking, that LE's have gotten WAY out of hand.

Am I cured yet????

This makes no sense. If there was not supposed to be any information out there then why give any away at all.

This "I'm not going to release it" is either two things:

1. A way to create more hype
2. A childish attitude, got their feelings hurt, or an I'll show you attitude

Now, I love me some viaje, but if this is the way the game is going to be played, then I am going to have to change my habits.....

If you do not want people to know about something then keep it a secret!

Here, here. The popularity of his sticks, case in point "skull and bones" is driven by communities like this one. Hype sells!

And remember...Three can keep a secret if two are dead!

I agree with these points. I could care less about the copycat thing. And I don't think dpg firecracker is a corner of creativity such that no one can make something similiar.

My beef his the weakness coming from the company if what Larry says is the whole story.

pretty much everything has been done before in one way or another...there were long pigtails way before the firecracker, and hopefully we'll see more of them in the future. so a similar design shouldn't be a deal buster for anyone.

the threatening hype of yes, no, maybe is crazy. knowing viaje is a good boutique brand, and knowing a little bit about distribution...if this were to be released on the 4th of july, all sticks would have been made by now and are resting. so, either viaje made such a limited batch that we weren't going to get our hands on them anyways(extremely small batch), or viaje will release the stick because they can't eat an entire release of a limited cigar.

if what we all assume that the entire story that has been divulged by larry (thanks again) is about feelings being hurt and viaje would be willing to scrap an entire project due to an early review, then viaje has some major marketing problems and poor business sense...but i highly doubt all of this.

Sounds like the dude at Viaje is a big cry baby. "i"m gonna take my toys and go home" BULL SH!T.

Who care if he's taken the closed foot, and the pictail from other ides. Pete and Pepin were'nt the first people to do that with a cigar. Hey that new chevy has just as many wheels as my Ford, Chevy is suck a copy cat" Gimme an F'm break. As long as it's a good stick, I could care less if he copied someone else's idea. The flying Pig has a pigtail...Did JD copy the Choiba Bihike in that respect? Who cares if he did? it's a good smoke.

But to tell us never mind, not going to release it because someone posted a favorful review, is bull shit. He's just lost my interest in this stick.

exactly. The issue here isn't him copying a pepin stick. That is understandable and happens all the time. it's how he is acting because someone leaked a review. I wish andre would come here and post and clear this up. In fact i am going to send an e-mail and see if he will.

EDIT: I e-mailed andre and asked him if he would like to come clear this up. We'll see what happens...

First and foremost I need to apologize all all my fellow BOTL'ers, the information I posted last night was not totally accurate because I misunderstood what I heard.

Andre fully intends to release the Viaje TNT and alway did!

Again, I'm sorry for posting information that I did not have all the information about.

Aside from that. Now I am pissed he copied the other guys. I'm still over this cigar and will just go back to my white owls and shut up.
