The JD4 has the same capa as the T52, which is a Havana Seed Grown in Connecticut and Stalk Cut/Cured. However, the blend is very much different. I find it much much heavier and a bit less peppery.

I will try to get some out as soon as more arrives at the Miami offices.

Best,
JD

You know what is funny about our business - you actually get credited for being a marketing genius when you genuinely just f*ck up. :]

And yes, I could have more made, but what is the point? We stopped T52 FP production to get these made, had to get Rubio to get 50 extra boxes made, waited 7 months for the cigars to be ready and poof they are gone. And anyone that thinks DE gets rich off the sale of an extra 50 boxes is crazy... there is like 6,000 on backorder! I had planned on using the "DE Only" boxes to support dinners, events, charities, etc. while giving a few to the guys here in the office.

So I had a few more LP9 FPs made for my own consumption, just bundled this time. I really do not need a lot of these cigars, I have to be in the right mood to want to smoke this shape.

And before it is asked:

Q: Why not make enough cigars to fill the backorders?

A: It wouldn't be fair to the customer's who bought the Y2009 production - I know I'd be pissed if I bought a 1 of 2,000 series of cigars for it then to become a 1 of 8,000.

I believe the 50 "DE Only" boxes if used for good causes and not sold would have been fine with most customers. Truth is I am embarrassed that these 50 extra boxes were sold.

Another embarrassing part of the whole FP saga is that in the end there were about 15 LP Appointed Merchants in the country who never received even a single box of the FPs. This was the result of piss poor inventory sales management on our part - it was difficult with 200 boxes this month, 324 boxes the next and so on over the course of 7 or so months. It appears that what happen is some retailers were so eager, they kept calling and working their sales guy every week. And as is so often true, the squeakiest wheels received the most oil, while the guy who politely waited his turn quietly got nada.

To rectify this, this year almost ALL the T52 FPs will be delivered at once to all the customers in November with the accounts we missed receiving theirs first and with a larger allotment. At least that is the plan.

Anyone wanna' take odds on us screwing the pooch on this too? <lol>

Thanks for the info Steve, looking forward to seeing the T52 FP's later this year. I've still got to of the originals I'm holding on to!

Great info :)

BTW Steve, I have an unopened box of FP I can send you, if you want one for yourself to smoke! I know how much you love them, and I hate to see a BOTL go without! LOL!

Like most of us you are a businessman. I for one appreciate you taking time to post like this. Just checked my boxes, no DE's.

Isn't that the best anyone can do, learn from their mistakes so they won't be repeated next time.

It's nice to see the blunt honesty. Thanks for the response.

Steve, FWIW I really like the fact that you're not making enough to fill backorders. I want to know that if I buy something that is a limited release that it truly is limited and worth the time and effort I put into finding it. If the same cigar will come out again in 6 months then there's no point in me chasing it down to start with - I'll let the hype die down and then get some of them.

Steve, you hit a home run with the Flying Pig. I didn't buy them as a collector's item. I bought them to smoke and if another release came, I would only welcome the thought of buying more.

The T52 Pig...that is something I am drooling over. Can't wait.
